Yesterday when I went to sleep (in the evening) at around ~1AM (my sleep patterns are quite messed up) I wanted to try WILD and although I fell asleep and did not have an LD I still seemed to have quite an intensive NLD. It was a nightmare, actually quite scary and it involved part of my family. However, it was very unrealistic. I don’t yet have a DJ so I don’t write my dreams down anywhere but I’ve realized that whenever I try WILD before going bed, I end up having dreams that I find easier to remember, not every detail but a lot more than the typical dream which I usually forget. I was wondering if this is just because this was a nightmare and I thought that it was real hence I find it easier to remember it? Or could this be because I was trying WILD? I can’t remember the other dreams as it was quite a while ago but I don’t think they where nightmares, the ones that I had when trying to WILD a week or two ago. Moving on to my actual question, is it normal to wake up with sweat all over the body after an intensive dream? It seems that only when my dreams are pretty intense I wake up sweaty which isn’t exactly comfortable…
Yeah, nightmares are often a lot easier to remember because you’re more emotionally involved with them, usually. Sometimes you can wake up sweaty from a dream… I woke up crying once. (Actually twice at least that morning, I’d reentered the dream by accident a few times). Apparently I used to sweat a lot when I was little when I’d sleep. I had a few more nightmares back then than I do now, but I don’t know if it’s correlated. I also used to have a really hard time falling asleep.
when i mess up my sleeping patterns i have more frequent LD’s, however they are all of llow lucidity in comparison to the LD’s i have when i get a good amount of rest. although i get less LD’s when i have regular sleep patterns, quite an interesting paradigm , (if someone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated)
on to your observation that your dreams are more vivid when you attempt MILD’s - that is the expected outcome. as your failed wild attempt would work as a mantra or dream incubation.
the physical manifestation of dreams is common ie. how breathing and eye movements within a dream are linked to the breathing and eyemovements of a person while he or she is sleeping you notice that when you awake abrubtly from a falling dream your heart rate is increased, wet dreams, wetting the bed when you vividly dream of going to the toilet etc. sweating is a natural process of a body when you are anxious or stressed. thus like heartbeat/eyemovements/ejaculating and urinating, sweating is not suppresed by sleep paralysis as motor movements are so when you would sweat in a dream, it is likely you will sweat IWL . unless the sweating linked to a different cause (sleeping too warm, a malignant virus, health issues, psychological issues which could cause night sweats)
