In essence I wish to make a good conversation with a dream character…something inspiring or like a learning experience which I could carry on iWL…
In my 7 months experience, I’ve learnt many different skills of LDing but since last 4-5LDs my attempts on interacting with DCs have gone par below failure…
The biggest problem I face shall have to be maintaining the lucidity when talking to a DC…In one of the dream the DC and I were walking along a corridor so I kept focussing on different scenes…tried to rub my hands and kept my mind busy…but last night I met a DC who was on the bed…I initiated the conversation but just failed to prolong lucidity since the scene was very static…
I need a few tips on how to make more welcoming conversations/discussions…
Another aspect I wish to explore would be of those certain dream characters which are amongst our thought form…Robert waggoner wrote it in his book that you could straight away ask the DC if he/she is your thought form…I tried it on a DC who introduced himself as a NIgerian Scientist…he agreed that he was a thought form but also added that all of those present in the dream were my thought form…I’m a bit confused after that…
PS=one of the dream character upon asking what does he represent, replied “ELEVEN”…any thoughts?
arne, I don’t know what a thought form is either, but instead of just dismissing it, why not ask what it is? Also, wouldn’t it be more helpful to actually answer what the person’s asking, not just what YOU think? Answers can be different for everyone.
Anyway, I myself am curious about this post. What is the thought form he’s describing? I’ve asked DCs before what they represent (albeit I’ve only done so once or twice), but I haven’t read Robert Waggoner’s book. It’s true I didn’t spend much time talking to my DCs, since there were several at one table and it was a restaurant/bar setting and I was the waitress. I only asked about three or four, and they gave me short answers. However, when I’ve had longer conversations, that was the two times I met my SC. Then, though, my SC did most of the talking after I asked a question or two. (He even started up things I didn’t ask for!) I figured I maintained my lucidity while talking to him because I was focusing on remember what he said for after I woke up (like when I asked him his name; when he told me, I wrote it down on some paper so I’d remember it better even though I knew I wouldn’t have the paper when I woke up).
Other than saying to focus on your memory, I can’t help you much. However, memory is a LOT of what constitutes LDs. To stay lucid in any dream, you’re going to have to remember that you are lucid. For me, when I want to ask a DC (usually my SC) a question, my intention is to remember it, so naturally, when I’m listening to them, I’m focusing on the fact that I want to remember it when I wake up, so I remember that it’s still a dream. I hope that makes sense. It does to me, but you never know…
I’d try to help figure out what the meaning of what your DC said is, but I can’t really help. However, I’d advise asking yourself some questions like… Does 11 have some sort of special meaning to you? Your brain knows your experiences and thought patterns, so really only you can understand in the end what it means when it does something like that.
I guess this would be an effective trick to start with…I really needed an anchor to start with…When the ambience is static it becomes too difficult to focus on anything…
Also the DCs are usually unpredictable…they say or act out things which makes me lose my grip over the whole conversation…often resulting into the end of the dream…
I would be very grateful if I could have certain other tips like writing the conversation down…
I know one thing i would want to ask a dream character is if he knew that i was dreaming. i remeber somewhere they talked about this and he said he a asked a 2 DC’s this one siad yes and the other no and the one made fun of the other for not knowing
I’ve had the same problem too. When I was talking to a DC while I was lucid, I didn’t remain lucid for very long. I was talking to a video game character I am a fan girl of and we had a lot of fun (He loves me too) and we were at home…after that I remember…Nothing, it was weird.
Well I’ve posted her some years ago and i’m now about 35… Still not as much LD as in my childhoud, and I don’t know if it’s the weather or anything, but i’m entering into a rich LD period, that comes with early waking hour, everyday life changes and some medicine(the kind that usualy last for 1-2 months).
I just had to share my experience of today (it felt like an obligation) so I came to this forum again (ld4all.fr is closed and i have’nt posted since 2 years…). I looked for the right place to post but found nothing… (glad if you can help).
Today I tried to question one of my Dream Character (some people I didn’t know) and it was the first time i got such a long answer (I remember reading somewhere here that some of your DC could be a guide…). After we had a small talk, I realised i was dreaming and I asked him if he was a Dream Character and he answered a big YES. Then I don’t know why but I asked him what was my previous dream (the one of that same night a few minutes ago, that I didn’t remember). He was’nt surpised at all and ansewered me back a lot of things that I now don’t remember anymore (some had to do with an helicopter…). But it made sense at that time, it lasted long, and I was very glad to meet him. I tried to take a good picture of his face so I could recognize him if we met again. In that same night, I met another uknown figure and asked again if he was a DC (but I knew it wasn’t the same). This one just answered “a little bit…”. When I woke up I was happy and felt good. I hope meeting some DC again soon, and that way, knowing myself better, while having fun and sleep at the same time ! (just like when I was younger !!)
