I have been trying to LD for some time now… but the problem is hard to explain…
My dreams never seem like I even did them, my dreams always feel like I read them from a book and they’re almost not my own… it’s hard to put into words…
Sometimes I have very good imagery to put with my dream but it feels like “made-up” images that you form when you read a good book…
It always seem so far in the past and so far away… it’s like I always “skip” over the actual dream while it’s happening
Do you use to remember your dreams just after you wake up from them or in the morning?
Also, do you rememeber any dreams in which you felt something (like an emotion or a sensation) ? Maybe you’re a strong visually person and you do not pay attention much to what you feel.
It sounds to me like your only problem is poor DR.
To improve your DR, just do the following:
When going to bed, repeat the mantra, ‘I will remember my dreams’ in your head over and over, until you either fall asleep or get bored (try and do it for at least half an hour).
In the morning, when you wake up, don’t get strait out of bed. Instead lay there and think about your dreams - don’t try and force yourself to remember them, but just let them come to you.
I appreciate the input but that’s the weird part… I have really good DR , i can usually write at least 2 pages on 3 different dreams every morning…
It’s just the sense of how long a dream lasts that fails me… like when I try to remember the dream visually and it skips around… did it last seconds or did it last many minutes so my images make sense? It’s so odd…
Dreams differ from people to people. some people have dreams that seem like they are activaly taking place in them, others watch it as if it was a movie. Once you get your DJ going you can take a look and see what most of your dreams are like. This could help you become lucid, perhaps a MILD mantra “the next time everything skips around I will relieze I am dreaming”
For me when I remember dreams I will remember the most resent first, so i start writing it down, while Im writing that down I remember another, and then another. eventually you remember your first dream you had. then just rearrange em in chronological order, or whatever order makes sense to you.
My advice would be to work with what you’ve got first. If time seems to fly in dreams, then perform a reality chack every time you loose track of time or notice time passing unusually in real life. Then, since your well aware of how time passes in your dreams, you might just perform a reality check when you notice this stuff when your dreaming.
By the way, sometimes my dreams seem to pass like that. Its as if when I remember them, they are just a ‘shadow’ of what they were when I was actually dreaming. Even really vivid lucid dreams can fade like this for me over time. But what I find helps is to make sure your very rested. If your tired, not only can dreams be harder to recall, but they are less real and vivid, for the simple reason that your drowsy and less aware of them while they are happening (for me anyway), so perhaps going to bed earlier, or meditating or even listening to relaxing music before bed would help. Thats what works for me anyway.
