For instance in an LD, could I say, “I want to learn the guitar solo from _______” and then know it perfectly? I think I’m stretching the possibilities a bit here, but I’m very curious.

Only one way to find out!
I have once greatly improved my technical ability in a difficult passage by playing it once or twice during a ND.
I would hypothesize that your practice would be more effective in a dream, though I doubt you could insta-learn something and have it carry into real life.
That’t good, now all I need to do is have an LD… And your number of LD’s says 4, is that from when you joined or what?
I’ve never thought of trying that before, but that might actually be a good idea. You probably would be able to play something on an instrument in a dream. A problem that could happen is that the notes may not sound right, unless you are familiar enough with the instrument to know what every note sounds like.
One time when I randomly became lucid in a dream I had no plan, so I was sitting there trying to think of something and this idea came into my head: listen to music. I was able to listen to a few songs that I know very well. I was able to change the pitch, rhythm, and words to the songs so it was pretty cool. It didn’t last very long, though. I remember I was head banging and everything randomly went black for a second and I ended up in a totally new place and lost most of my lucidity.
From that, I suppose it would be possible to transcribe a song in a dream if you are famililar enough with it.
Being a guitar and bass guitar player myself, I have had dreams about playing them before. Not too long ago I had a dream where I was doing something totally unrelated to music but I was carrying my bass with me. I remember trying to play it, but for some reason I couldn’t synchronize my left and right hand so it sounded bad. People started to make fun of me
Well. it is possible to play the guitar in LDs, just the notes probably won’t sound normal.
And you may also have more(or less) strains on the guitar, so it’s pretty impossible, unless you are a true grandmaster
I had a lucid dream last night and I remembered to try playing my guitar. Well, I didn’t really remember - a DC randomly asked me, “Aren’t you suppose to be playing guitar or something?” which reminded me to try. The DC wanted to play guitar with me appearently, so I made a guitar for him, but he insisted upon having an amp. I made the amp, but it had like 1000 wires all over the place and it had to be set up with this really annoying procedure, which is inexplainable because of how ridiculous it was. I told my other DC’s to set it up while I just played my guitar. It was really weird playing it. When I tried playing a chord that I knew, the chord would just sort of sound in my head when I strummed it. They didn’t really come from the instrument. When I played riffs that I knew they just sort of played in my head whether I played them correctly or not. It was really hard to play in my dream. My hand was sort of deformed and when I would move my fingers they would like trail behind eachother. It’s hard to explain. Sort of like when you wave your hand accross your field of vision in a dream and it doesn’t really move in one constant motion. When I just played random notes with no idea of what I was playing, it just sounded like I was playing an out of tune guitar. After a minute or two the same DC that wanted to play guitar with me wanted to play tennis with ping pong balls and mini basketballs in my house. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse so I just gave up.
Probably not, unless you know what all the frets sound like already. But if you have mastered that, why would you need to learn something in a dream.
The solo from Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin, I want to see anyone other than Jimmy Page himself play that. It’s over just about everyone’s skill level so I was wondering if I could learn it in a dream.
If you were to try playing guitar in a dream and have the same experience as I did, then you would probably be able to play it if you knew exactly what every part of it sounded like. You would also probably to have the notes or a tab of it memorized. So basically…you would have to be able to play it in real life, or atleast have a very good idea of how it’s played. I didn’t spend a lot of time with my guitar in my dream, so I’m not completely sure how it works. Next time I get lucid I’ll try again and spend more time with it.
If you really want a challenge, then try to play something by Psyopus or Behold… The Arctopus. Granted that they do write their songs with almost random notes, they are nearly impossible to play by anyone who isn’t a professional.
I’m not a big fan of obscure metal bands, but I’ll try a tab of theirs. And I’ve memorized a lot of tabs.
P.S. I just looked up the song “Estrogenpathogen Exchange Program” by Behold the Arctopus. Those chords are INSANE! But what’s up with the song name, and the band name? They must have been extremely high when they thought of them…
Yeah, they aren’t very well known, but their instrumentals are really hard. You probably won’t be able to find very many tabs for them.
Yes, the band name/songs are quite odd. They probably make them like that as a joke. Look up the song Alcoholocaust by Behold The Arctopus. It sounds like they are all playing different songs all composed of random notes, but it’s funny because it’s so ridiculously hard and they are able to perform it even faster live.
Anyway, you should try playing your guitar in a lucid dream. It feels pretty weird.
Well yes I will, once I have another one. And I’ll look it up. …Alcoholocaust?
