I was trying really hard to sleep tonight after sleeping all day, and something happened that I didn’t expect. I woke up during sleep paralysis. It was terrifying. A total shock. It wasn’t until about halfway through the experience that I realized what was going on, My muscles were all locked up, and I was looking at my ceiling, where a peice of paper that was taped there in a dark part of my room was being blown by some wind, and the whole room was foggy, and I heard guitar music and someone pounding on a piano, and i felt like something was in the room with me, making the fact that I couldn’t move really scary. My initial thought was “oh my god, something weird is happening, and I was just asleep, so I’m still in sleep paralysis, I gotta move” but after I pulled my muscles free and realized that I was looking at a completely different part of my room and the music/presence/paper/fog were all my imagination, instantly I remembered that these things are normal during SP. Is there any way to make this feeling easier to deal with and more recognizable so I can get past it and into the lucid dream?
I totally agree with you with the fact that SP is a very, very, etc… uncontrollable experience (you don’t have the habit to be paralyzed with your consciousness awaken in real life). So, if the SP surprises you during the sleep, you’re not prepared mentally for it, you were dreaming calmly !!!
So, with time, one must train onself not to be terrified by SP.
One must stay calm and think of cool things (one morning, during SP, I thought of a sweet sensation and in front of me appeared a blue silhouette like an angel and I felt great sensations instead of startling vibrations).
Though, I admit that SP is very frightening, during my childhood, I have had tons of them, but back then I thought it was just nightmares. In fact, it’s worse.
I don’t even know how to get it to happen, but it’s necessary to go through for WILD right? I’ve been trying WILD for months, and this has never happened to me, this totally caught me off guard while I was asleep. I want to know how to induce it myself so I can be prepared for it and know what to expect rather than occasionally be startled by it and not recognize it , and then lose my chance for a lucid dream.
do you have to start WILD after wbtb?
@ Zz
No, but most people recommend you do, general opinion seems to be it makes WILD-ing easier.
No. Absolutely not necessary. It’s only happened to me about a quarter of the time I WILD, actually.
Anyway, I think you just need to relax. The first experience is always scary, but after that, you should be just fine. I know I was. That, and remember that SP is (1) natural and (2) not going to hurt you.
I definitely agree with that, also I’d suggest reading everything you can about SP, HI, etc. That way when things happen you can just say, that’s just whatever happening. Although some people panic when certain things happen, so long as you stay calm you won’t have any problems The feeling of something threatening being in the room with you is part of the feeling of being vulnerable as you can’t move. when the feeling starts remind yourself what it is and it should go away, it did for me
I also just want to add; try to enjoy yourself. SP is a unique and interesting feeling and that gets overlooked too often IMO.
Yeah, like I explained before, when SP occurs, just think of something really joyful or even orgasmic, and the frightening sensations will change into sweets ones.
