Is this WILDing, or something else?

Last night I had my second lucid dream ever  (Yay!) But the confusing part wasn’t that I had the LD… it was how I induced it.

I was woken up during a dream that I had almost fallen into a hole my dream guide had sunk into. Tired as I was, I went right back to sleep… but the phrase “I wish this dream had more walls” came into my head. I recognized it as a good way to keep myself conscious while falling back asleep, and kept repeating it to myself until I was dreaming, effectively turning myself lucid.

The weird part was that I have WILDed before, and though I’ve never succeeded, it has always taken me an excruciatingly long time to get past even the first stages. But this time, it was instantaneous. I felt like my sleepiness had made me heavy as lead and I had closed my eyes, heaved a sigh, and fallen gently backward right through the pillow… that’s how fast it happened.

It just sort of confused me. Is that normal? Is there a chance that was a FA? And how would you describe the whole situation?

Moved from General Lucidness. :dragon:

WILD’ing after waking up is definitely the best way to do it. Just like you said its much faster and easier. Not to mention you don’t usually have to deal with SP

There is a chance it was an FA, but it doesn’t sound like it to me. Congrats on the WILD.

Yeah, sometimes you don’t even feel the transition. I’ve been having WILD’s that are literally like this: I roll over after waking up, say a mantra once or twice and clear my mind. After what seems like less than a minute I feel I’m there and get out of bed. Do a nose RC to be sure and bingo

and congrats!

So it really was a WILD, then? Alright! :content:

I will never forget the feeling of sinking right through the pillow like that… maybe I can use the experience to speed up my other WILD attempts.

Thank you!
