Just a question.

For the past few nights I’ve only been able to sleep in increments. Especially last night, I only could sleep for 1.5 hours then I’d wake up. That happened twice last night but after each time I could recall 1-3 different dreams.

Basically I’m just wondering if I’m even getting into REM sleep(even for a short amount of time) in that 1.5 hours and how much easier it is to recall dreams during REM?

I’m not sure, but I’ve experienced that too. On time I kept waking up every 10 minutes, but I could remember an extraordinarily long dream after each wake.

You are getting to REM, because REM is when dreams happen.

Ah okay, ty. I thought maybe REM is just where more vivid dreams happen.

It is actaully. Just before the REM stage there’s the 5th stage of nREM, in which Slow Wave Sleep (SWS) occurs. According to Wikipedia (search nREM, unfortunately too tired to find the link), SWS does cause the mind to dream, but not as vividly as REM sleep.
