if in real life you do many reality checks but as you do them you ask am i dreaming the answer here would always turn out no im not so if these tests are done alot in waking life and always with the answer im awake wont if the rc’s are transferred to the dream wont the answer still be im awake and so no ld from the rc because of the implications of being awake

No, because reality checks are designed to give you proof that you are either dreaming or not dreaming. It seems to me that you are not using a conclusive check.
Take this reality check as an example:
Whenever you would normally do a check during the day, pinch your nose shut with your thumb and finger. Now try to breathe through your closed nose, and you will (obviously) not be able to do it.
However, if you do the same check while dreaming you will find that you are still able to breathe through your nose. This is because you are pinching a dream nose (not your real nose which remains unblocked). So you will have the sensation in a dream of pinching your nose shut and yet you will still be able to breathe through it.
This gives you conclusive proof that you are dreaming - there is no other possible explanation.
There are other reality checks you can use, but they are all designed to give you you solid proof of dreaming or not dreaming - and if you can remember to perform them in your dreams thay will make you become lucid.
What also helps is if you conclude you’re awake, imagine that you are really dreaming, and imagine yourself carrying out some action in the dream. Then, resolve to perform lots of reality checks, when your dreaming and awake.

I took a RC in the dream, thinking it was RL. I was only taking it to get into the habbit. I was expecting it tell me I was awake - but instead it told me I was dreaming.
Just an opinion question to all my fellow dreamers, would you say it’s better to do RCs as habit (Like, the habit of always flicking on and off a lightswitch when you see one) or do RCs for a reason(Like,when something strange happens, you RC)?
From my (very limited) experience, I would suggest that doing RCs out of habit would probably be better. It seems to me that when something odd happens in a dream, it may often just seem “normal” and it wouldn’t occur to you to do an RC. On the other hand, doing it out of habit would mean that once the associated action turns up in your dream, you’d do the RC as if you were awake.
This is just in my experience though. I tried doing RCs when odd things happened for a while, with no results; recently I had my first LD ever after wearing a watch for a few days that beeps hourly and doing RCs when it beeps.
