i’ve ben studying Chinese History (150-300) and Japanese History (1530-1640)
and i’ve been reading some rather interesting idea’s from some of the people in the time.
in regards to the Japanese sector, it was a time when honour was still high and the martial arts were starting to be replaced thanks to the invention of the Rifle, (however there honour kept them to using it in true ways of war)
there was a famed swrodsman namedMiyamoto Musashi and he wrote a book entitled ‘the book of five rings’ now he says in this book that several ofthe martial art founders claimed to find them because the gods sent them a message, or some clue while they slept.
I researched this more and found that 80% of the martial arts, from the 14 century in Japan especialy, were told to them by the different gods and that they found perfections in what they did in that dream, and found different techniques that they then perfected IRL.
i’m not quite sure what i’m alluding to here but i find it quite fascinating that some techniques that are so complex and graceful can be derived froma simple dream, is it possible we use more than the normal percentage of ourbrains while we sleep, because we seem to find all our answers at night and suddenly understand a puzzle the next day.
ah yes iremember now, i was going to say that, being so at peace with the surroundings and having their focus on one thing from when they awake to when they lie down at night. it seems to make them Lucid Dream, or so ibelieve. the concentration to one thing seems to have made martial artists in search of ‘the way’ keep search even in their sleep. i just thought i’d share my thoughts here. not quite sure what i was talking about in someplaces, sorry if theres any confusion…
do you know that a scientist also found the Benzene ring (molecule) to be of round shape in a dream? i think he dreamt of monkies holding hands in a ring or a snake biting its tail… it was one of his greatest findings, also a very big thing for chemistry
I can only say about that, not from my own knowledge but from what I’ve read and what I’ve saw on television or youtube , they said that when we’re asleep then our brain works more then usual, then all parts of the brain are active except part that is responsible for logic is shut down…
well don’t say that, there is some logic xD sometimes… in some places… my clocks and books work in my dreams… at least some logic…
there’s also dream logic which is wonderful in its own way… but that’s another thing…
pretty logical to me, cause it’s your dream you can do what you want in it there was even a post here somewhere that you can gain more lucidity by undressing in a dream
reading in a dream… eh. one RC less xD text is always consistent. but yes, i can write something and remember it upon waking up. i once wrote a poem about cats in a dream when i was in 8th grade
evidently dreams are logical, i mean as i mentioned, the way of the samurai was to ‘forge youself in the way’ basically meaning that they are always studying their one preffession, what everit is, be in carpentry or swordsmanship, they all have a relation (as Musashi states in his ‘Book of Five Rings’) this would be why they can find answers in their dremas. So it would make sense if the brain does work more.
to putit in a modern sense, video gaming. If you play a game such as tomb raider all day and get stuck on one part, when you go to bed your brain is still trying to work it out, thishas happened to me several times, its not always right because sometimes my brain imagines ledges that aren’t there. But it’s always workingoutcombinations and ways of overcoming the obstacle, which would be exactly how the Sword practitioners will have found their ‘missing link’
yes, you are right. and also i think that that’s why in my dreams i still often am at a school, even though i graduated long ago. possibly my brain is still trying to solve the problems i used to have there with people.
i think i also have had one experience where i figured something out in a dream but now i can’t remember what it is…
you think they entered LDs there though? maybe they were just simple dreams where they trained. although who knows? it’s for sure that Tibetan monks had LD techs covered before we even knew about it
well i’m not saying for certain, but it is quite likely. I mean the way of Zen Budhism gives complete peace and concentration, its likely that this could give them control of their Dreams, i mean obviously it could just be an ND, but there is still the possibility that they’ve trained themselves to forge themselves in the way at all times
anyway i’m researching this for an article for the scribes. i’ll find out as much as possible.
