Let me tell you my point of view, and that is, from Israel. I have seen my share of terrorism here, and I have been in fact near an explosion, I was about 600 meters away so it had no impact on me, but my friend was a lot closer and was thrown back from the explosion, luckily for him he was just able to break his fall. I believe this would have been traumatic for anyone. I dont know what the consequenses of the war would be, but I just hope the arabs get a taste of their own. So far 800+ innocent Israelis, and kids I might add have died by acts of terrorism. I hope the war goes well and the goals that the US have set for themselves will be reached, but more than that I hope that Israeli will not suffer from this war (then again it is more than likely that we will).
Let me play a role that is easy for me to play; the dumb American.
Where exactly is Saddam going to go if he is forced to leave Iraq?
Aruba or Jamaica and stay at the Hilton until he builds a new home?
Seriously though, why would Saddam be less of a threat if he is just moved. I would think we would be more angry and vengful if he is forced to exile. By the way it sounds, the only good Saddam is a dead Saddam.
I just can’t imagine Saddam living in another country, yet alone imagine him loading U-Hauls and heading out. Though I think the US knows this, it’s just a polite way to assassinate or blow him up. Actually, I think G. Bush SR., or some other president, removed assassination as a US tatic. Too bad we try to be so darn civil.
Think what you want, I don’t care. You would actually never know what its like. I might be over-dramatic, but its true. Its not like I think about it all the time, you just have to overcome it.
in any case i think generalizations are pretty dumb, downright ignorant, one might even say.
i’m not saying you’re not allowed to feel the way you feel. I just think that i have the right to comment on what someone says, especially when something is being said that expresses utter lack of sympathy and empathy for other human beings.
fabi, you know what forget the generalizations, I just hope that the ones who deserved it will be punished. I don’t mind the other arabs, heck I even have a salesman who I’m sort of friends with who’s an arab. But I can’t help being mad, you know?
If Saddam was assassinated, wouldn’t he just be replaced by one of his sons or someone else just as evil? This isn’t like a video game or a movie where you kill the boss and you win. Just like Bush could be replaced relatively easily if he were assassinated, Saddam could be. Also, I think we’ve only had one opportunity in the last 12 years to assassinate Hussein, it could be a while longer before we get another opportunity, especially considering he’s going to be hiding a lot from now on. There is also evidence that Hussein is having plastic surgery done to people to make them look exactly the same as him. These fake Saddams will appear on one side of the country while the real one is somewhere else to throw us off (Hitler used this tactic).
