Hey there,
I’ve read in alot of Lucid Dreaming articles and in this forum that light switches never work in a lucid dream. I got a question though - I’ve dreamt a couple of times now that my father was talking about a light switch that doesnt work and then I activated the light switch and the light functioned properly… So whats the matter with me?

Well, it’s common in dreams that light switches don’t work or don’t work properly, but that doesn’t mean they can’t ever work. For me they usually work. Also, I find that I am rarely unable to run. Again, for some people it’s common that their feet feel like lead when they try to run from something in a dream.
Depends on the person really.

It’s usually accepted that electrical devices mostly do not work, but it differs from person to person. If you strongly belive that the light switch will work, it will. If you beleve it is impossible, the light will stay even if you do everything you can (like making the light bulb explode, getting sunglasses e.g.).
i always have 6 fingers in a dream, so that’s reliable enough for an RC
Ive noticed in my dreams that light switches don’t seem to work, however i have a friend who said for him they work but don’t work properly, or don’t help( like if he is turning on the light to see somthing better). so again, like many people have said, im sure it jsut depends on each person
They didn’t work in my dreams, that’s how I got my first LD because the light next to my bed didn’t work but it depends on the dream really because sometimes RCs fail, and like everyone said it depends on the person too.
There is no reality check that works 100% of the time. You can’t really guarantee anything will be constant in a dream. You just need to hope that the light switches in your dreams don’t work.
I was dreaming, that I am in my room and I try to turn on lights with my mind my power, but I couldn’t. Then my sister started walking around and turned on all lights except one in which room I was. So I understood I need to act like a dream character, because I saw how my sister(dc) turned lights on. I tried to turn it on like dc and it worked…
I have never dreamt something of lightswitches, I hope its a good DS 
I tested out the light switch thing in my last lucid dream and it affected the sun
sun rays and shadows coming in through window blinds would jerk into different directions each time i flicked the light switch
I believe if the brain understands how electrical devices work, they will work. It’s like a form of preprogramming of the subconscious.

Yeah i was standing in the kitchen of my house after i teleported home and my mom was doing the dishes and i said “Look mom, I told you light switches don’t work in dreams” and i flicked it rapidly and i noticed out of the corner of my eye the sun being affected
i only remember 2 dreams with light switches one worked the other didnt. the first one i was in the autoturium of my school and i was in charge of working hte lights. all the lights work with the dimmer. the more recent one was my first lucid and i couldnt see what i was doing so i tryed the lights didnt work at all.
RCs are pretty individual. Sure, light switches are common RCs (even worked for me once, btw), but no one said they’re 100% fool proof Since we all have our own minds, it’s hard to tell the differences in it’s workings and how it’d react differently
