Logical explaination of telepathy.

Deleted.

eh… idk bout all that.
plausible-ish.

sure the brain is more powerful then who knows what, and has the potential to do numerous things…

any phone or transmitting device has a few components,
mainly a transmitter and a receiver…
the transmitter takes the analog signal (speech, or in this instance though patterns for the discussions sake) that has been broken down into a digital pattern, and transmits it via whatever means available, be it ye olde copper wires(mechanical) or by wireless(EM)
im not sure about everyone else, but i am fairly certain i do not have a transmitter in me noggin

you can argue that a transmitter isn’t necessary, that enough energy is being put off by the actual formulation of thoughts that they can be picked up one

And now for the most important part of telepathy, the receiver.
Being able to receive any information transmitted by another person is highly improbable. The slim possibility that you could attune yourselves to corresponding frequencies and decompile and stream back into analog the transmitted information is highly doubtful to be at all possible.

However, the possibility that a receiver can pick up on ambient thought patterns and energy is more purchasable by me.
I am willing to believe that there are people who possess this ability in limited proportions. However, a person must be aware of the ability to do this, be able to interpret received thoughts, or more importantly received feelings. (empathy is a different thread – something I believe in 100%;o) Not just any joe can be told, ‘hey, your brain is capable of doing this’ sure my body is capable of running a 5 minute mile, but I sure am not doing, same goes for my brain.
Through either birth-given sensitivity, flukes of who knows what, and prolonged exposure and sensitization, it might be possible to have limited telepathic abilities.

Lemme give yah my explanation on “telepathy” (sorry, this one will not be as jumbled as ^ that mess)

I (once again) believe that the universe is one giant word jumble with numbers instead of letters. There are only so many possible equations that can be formed, and certain people possess the ability to recognize these patterns or equations, and thusly predict there outcome, meriting prognostic and “extrasensory” abilities.
For example, whenever I was having a conversation with my very good and departed friend, I would know what she was thinking, and what she was about to say… not out of some mystical ability, but simply because I knew her. I knew how she thought, and how she would react to “different variable in the equation” and thusly I would be able to predict how she would respond to certain stimuli and have a damned good estimate on how she would react to new ones based on previous experience.

phooey.

at the time that stastistic was “measured” scientist did not have nearly a broad enough understanding of how the brain works.
Sure, let us say that i am using 10% of my brain for cognitive thought.
So what is the rest of it doing…

Keeping my heart beating?
Keeping me upright in my chair?
Reminding my body to breath?
Regulating chemical releases of adrenaline, serotonin and other hormones?
Keeping me from falling down when I stand up to go to the fridge?
Interpreting signals from my body, enabling me to realize “hey, you are thirsty”?
Swinging my arms to and fro as I walk?
Processing audio and visual information and interpreting into something my cognitive mind can understand as I go to the fridge, try not to wake my family, and retrieve a beverage of my choice?
Storing memories? (heh, see my archetypal memory thread ;o)
Running the many other subconscious processes we do not comprehend?

eh sure, let us say there are a few floating percantages of unused brain… 1% here .5% there… but not a whole lot

lets take something else into perspective…
I am blind (okay not really, but lets pretend)
Do you think i use the visual centers of my brain?

YES! it has been proven that the visual centers of the brain when not in use by the ocular devices we so lovingly call eye balls, pick up some of the slack for the other sense, assisting in hearing, touch, and smell. Lending to idea of people gone blind heightening the developement of there four remaining senses.

That is a very old statistic, and has been disproved. All of my brain, your brain, and everyone elses brain is in fact very busy

And besides, 57.65% of all statistics are made up

The brain is more powerfull, so what?
A nuclear missile is 1,000s of times more powerful than a scalpel but I wouldn’t use a nuclear missile for surgery. A computer is much more advanced than a barbque but a computer can’t cook your chops, it’s the same basic principle, just becuase something is more advanced or powerful dosn’t mean it can do anything something less advanced can do.

I agree completly with Susan Ivanova.

Idk, thoughts aren’t sound. Do they really need a transmitter and receiver? And if it was that simple, they would have implanted some in somebody a long time ago. I agree though it would be the understanding of thoughts you received would be an issue. Not insurpassable I’m sure, especially if someone was thinking in picture form. I’m not sure about telepathy. But one thing about learning how thoughts are formed and transmitted within our own head may lead to understanding of if it’s possible.

I’d just like to point out that the the idea that we only use 10% of our brain is an urban myth. We use all of it.

I think qui ote is right about his theory about telepathy. Just because you know someone you know what the other one is thinking. I have that a lot with some friends, but never with a stranger. Only if it’s just obvious, but then it isn’t telepathy.

I would like to have this topic deleted. Thank you.

Please don’t ian1 and please don’t worry, if you are. There is nothing wrong with exploring this topic.

Why?

Because he has seen the error of his ways and humans don’t like to know they aren’t perfect. He’s just human.

i am perfact!!!

be not dreary mr. ian1

you should check at all the crap i put in the researchers area… ahm, lucid lab! (apparently i am still a researcher.)
sure everyone has different views and opinions as to how things work, and i encourage everybody to share their point of view. (granted it has legs, or at least ankles, to stand on)
and no! i like your post, it gave a nice insight into a plausible explanation to the phenomenom of telepathy.
(i ama skeptic of everything, i am not even sure you are real… so take anything i say with a grain of salt… maybe two)

seen my missing letter anywhere??

Can anyone give me a “non-para” explanation for this experience I had? I ask because I like to rule out all logical “mundane” explanation before labelling it as a telepathy experience.

I suffer from anxiety - which has been dormant for a while now - but an incident at work brought it all back a couple of weeks ago. I went to bed that night, and in my prayers I said “please help me, I don’t want to go back down that road again”. As I was dropping off to sleep, I saw, very clearly, like a photograph, the image of a man’s head and shoulders. He had grey hair, round glasses, and a green shirt. He had a very healing aura around him, and he simply smiled at me, then disappeared. It was such a clear image, it woke me up - I had been in the twilight between sleep and wakefulness when it happened.

Over the next couple of days, a series of events occurred, which lead me to having an assessment interview for an anxiety self-help group - which promises a very good success rate in dealing with generalised anxiety. I won’t go into a long blog here, but suffice to say, the events which lead me there were very serendipitous.

When I went to meet the guy who runs the group, I was shown into his little office. I nearly fell over - it was the Guy of my vision, even down to the fact that he was wearing a green shirt!

I didn’t mention it of course, but I may do, as I get to know him better.

So how did this happen? Never seen him before, never even knew about the group at the time, and yet I saw his face, so clearly. The group has been a big help to me. Maybe someone was listening when I said my prayers that night?

Psychicsue if you can prove that you never even saw the guy before the dream, sceptics are going to have some hard time explaining this I guess (but I have been known to guess wrong, on accidental occasion)…

ps: too bad ian1 that you deleted your post I had not the chance to read it. Please dont just delete posts!
