Lucid Disabilities

Most of the time when I have an afternoon nap it comes with a LD.
However, annoyingly, many of these LDs have been recently characterised by really poor sight. I had one today, where I was basically blind. I didn’t see black but I just kept on seeing my bed-sheets as I looked down on them. I still got up out of bed and could feel and knew where I was in the room but I just kept on seeing this still of my bed-sheets.
Another annoying thing is my left arm has been paralysed in my last few LDs. It’s a horrible feeling and obviously hampers the enjoyment of the LD.

This coupled with the fact that last time I looked in the mirror in a LD I was some kind of hideous hunch-back, has me worried that my LD-self is just horribly disfigured and disabled. How can I rehabilitate my LD-self? Any advice?

Moved from Quest forum.

In regards to poor sight there are two things that have helped me. One, and this deals with fuzzy vision, is to put on or take off a pair of glasses. If your vision is frozen but you can still move, try to rip away the image like a curtain. When it comes to your arm, don’t even think about it. Just try to go through the dream like normal. Eventually you will move that arm without even thinking about it because your SC knows that it should work.

A solution I always love to give for any problem is the magic dream pill. Just pull it out of your pocket and take it at the beginning of any dream. It’s magic, so it can fix any problem .

That very last thing is with the mirror. If you worry about what your image will be, you’ll be subconsciously thinking that it will look deformed. Again, just don’t sweat it. Next time you look in a dream mirror, just expect it to be normal. It may sound simple, but in the end it’s us that make LD’s complicated.

For the bed sheets issue, like Rhewin said things in dreams really boil down to confidence and expectation. So next time, if you think it will be ok, it will be. Think of your room, remember the details you can’t see, and they will appear quickly.

About the left arm, it could be paralysed because you sleep on it, it goes numb, and the sensation carries over in dreams.
This, coupled with the fact that some unpleasant things are happening in dreams (like your reflection) makes me think you’re sleeping on your left side. For a male, it is generally advised to sleep on the right side instead (the sides are reversed for females), so the situation should improve quite a notch if you try switching sides. Let us know how it goes.
