Lucid Dream? How to improve?

I was flying around space like my feet and hands had thrusters on them. They only had thrusters on them though if we put our hands and feet inside our jacket ‘Corners’. We had to keep our hands by our sides so they could point backwards and we could get more thrust the instructor told us that the professionals/good flyers extended one leg to the side and then simultaneously one arm, kind of like strafe jumping. I had a race with one person and couldn’t realise where I was going because I couldn’t see clearly (I can’t usually in dreams). The aim was to race towards these ring loops, go through them and then loop upwards and fly towards a nebula and hit it. The first time I skipped the rings and went straight for the nebula. I was losing so I flew harder and managed to get to the nebula in time. It was almost like a video game though because there was a number near the bottom indicating how many metres you and your opponent were from the nebula, I remember my opponent being close but then I just caught up to him just in time. I couldn’t see where I was flying though so I just hoped I would hit a nebula first.
Instantly I was transported back to the start where other people were in lines waiting their turns to race. The nebula was to out right and so we had to do a quick turn to be going in the correct direction. This time when I got to the start of the queue to race a girl from school was in front of me and it looked like she thought it was her go before mine. She was also sneaking a bit too far across the starting line. It told her to get back and she didn’t oblige but I let it slide. This time when I flew I was losing again so I sped up using the proffesional technique but I am not sure if it helped. The nebula was right in front of me but I overshot it and went underneath it. I was upset and I turn back around to realise my opponent had not won yet either. I sped towards the closest nebula which I again undershot. Finally I tried again but aimed for a reddish thing instead of the orange nebulas. I thought they would do the same things. When I hit that though It acted lie a wormhole and sucked me into a different dimension. This was like a city environment with a few skyscrapers to my left and an urban community feel to my left. I could tell it was a hot place because it looked dusty. When I went through the wormhole I just appeared in midair flying a ship which looked like a train with carriages but sleek and modern looking and it was red. It looked futuristic. The weird thing though was that I was in third person. I could see the ship and I knew that I was inside it. It was very similar to a video game. I tried to steer the ship and I realise I could similar to video game controls. There was another one of these things but a blue one up ahead and I accidentally flew into it and crashed and my character jumped out as my ship crashed to the ground. It was kind of like GTA because I could see my character jumping out and I knew my character was dead.

But the weird thing was that the gravity that my character had wasn’t correct and my character almost floated out of the ship. When I went through the wormhole and found myself in a weird city I though t myself uh this is weird. I had an inkling that it was a dream. But when I saw my character have little gravity I knew that video games always have realistic gravity. I realised that I could be dreaming. My character was still falling but I didn’t care. This next bit, now that I think about it,was kind of weird. Me as the player of the game thought that I was dreaming. Not my character but I pushed my thumb into my hand as a reality check. Sure enough my thumb sunk into it unnaturally. I now knew I was dreaming but the world hadn’t cleared up. I ‘spawned’ on the footpath of the community place. There were many shops on the street. But it looked like you could walk on the road since there were no cars or vehicles. I really wanted to be able to see better so I told myself I was lucid dreaming. Immediately the world cleared up for me. This whole time though I was in third person except for the space part of the story. I started walking to see what I could do. It was kind of like I was playing a video game as I couldn’t do something that I wanted to. It think this is because the whole scenario was like video game. I told my character left click and I accidentally punched a woman who stumbled, but didn’t retaliate. I half expected for her to retaliate or guards to come because I was relating this to Assassins Creed. She didn’t and I kept walking. Wen I walked I just walked where I wanted to go, I didn’t have to move using a ‘controller’. I saw this pretty lady on the road and I coaxed her back onto the side of the road. I wanted to start having sex with her but I didn’t know how. I ‘right clicked’ on her and three options came up. The first one had lips on it which I knew was kiss. The second had a treble clef on it but I didn’t know what it did. It was very much like how the sims works. I didn’t pay attention to the third option. I pressed kiss and my character and the girl started kissing. I didn’t feel any kissing but, not my character but I felt aroused. For some reason we stopped kissing and I continued down the footpath. I saw table with some pieces of paper on it. They indicated that inside were girls selling the bodies. It also had scheduled times where people had reserved the girl for. I walked inside and sat down in front of a girl. She asked if I was next on schedule and I said yes even though I wasn’t. She acted like she was about to get started but then a man and a shorter woman walked through the door and I became worried that I had stolen their reservation. This is when my dream ended.

Maybe I became too worried that I was going to be caught or maybe since it was 8:30 in the morning and I had had a good nights sleep.
Will my lucid dreams always be like I am in a video game and I do I stop that? I had played video games before I went to sleep.
Should I be able to feel kissing and feel things because it felt like the whole time I was controlling a character?
Was this even a lucid dream?
I have heard stories of flying and doing anything you want and it felt I was constricted by having to ‘play the game’.

This was my first lucid dream and I hope someone can help or guide me.

Of course it was a lucid dream—you knew you were dreaming! Lucidity can vary, and isn’t exactly the same as dream control. Sometimes we’re only dimly aware that we’re dreaming and don’t even act on it. You, however, were acting on your knowledge of being in a dream environment over and over. So, I’d say that you were most definitely lucid, even though the experience was strange and new to you and maybe somewhat disorienting.

I have had third-person lucid dream experiences, too, but most of mine are first-person. Occasionally, I have video game-like dreams or LDs, but I’m not a gamer, so I’m not influenced greatly by games.

Humans have been lucid-dreaming for centuries, and probably have been influenced by technology at different times. The internet, and video games, are simply the latest technology to complicate our dreams.

Video games, I think, mesh well with our dreaming minds because they are like dreams, in a way—both are simulations.

How do you stop dreaming in a video game format? Well, keep working at LDs and see if the trend continues first. I would be surprised if every LD was video game-like for you. But there are a load of techniques for changing dreams. The simplest method I use for changing what I’m dreaming is walking through a door with the expectation that I will magically find the place I want to be behind the opened door. Another technique that’s commonly used is spinning and imagining a new place.

But, again, dream control is not exactly the same as lucidity. At times, we can be very aware that it’s a dream—and easily able to recall facts from our everyday waking reality—but we aren’t able to change the dream at will. This is a mystery that every lucid dreamer lives with.

Certainly, to an extent, lucidity and dream control overlap. After all, to willfully choose to do anything in your environment (waking or sleeping) is dependent on your being aware of choices. Lucidity seems to be synonymous with control because, once you’re aware that you’re dreaming, your options multiply exponentially. In a lucid dream, the main arbiters of what you can do or can’t do are: expectation, belief, your emotional state, your creativity and concentration.
