appologies if this question has been asked before. but i am unsure of the distinction/relation between LD and AP.
someone please explain how astral projection differs, or how to induce this experience from a LD if it is a seperate phenomenon.
i have had a couple of LD’s, induced by MILDs and WILDs, but how could i tell if any of them have been AP’s
Well, it will somewhat depend on who you ask. I personally believe OBE and AP are just very vivid lucid dreams, but I digress. AP is when you supposedly project your consciousness out of your body and into another plane of existence, versus an LD where you simply become aware of the fact that you are dreaming. It is different from OBE where you project your consciousness out of your body into the current plane.
Obviously from my stand I don’t really have much to say on AP as far as personal experience goes, but I have had a few OBE LD’s. Basically I felt as if I was entirely without a physical body. My mind felt as if it was completely separated for a time.
One of the key differences that I feel should always be mentioned is with OBE’s. Because OBE stands for Out of Body Experience. That implies that it doesn’t necessarily have to be “out of body”, it just seems that way.
That’s how I usually differentiate between dreams ABOUT out of body-ing and actually projecting out.
As far as AP’s/OBE’s are concerned, you don’t REALLY have to be asleep. They can theoretically be induced from meditation, trances, and (for OBE’s) virtual reality goggles. Point being dreams are unnecessary.
But that’s more of a nomenclature thing. What Rhewin said entirely correct.
Well that got a little rambley…hope it makes sense
I’ve had many lucid dreams in my life but only two real astral projection (which were very short)
Once you have experienced both, the difference is VERY clear.
Does that mean your spirit is really out there ?
Hm… lots of people have tried to prove it, some succeeded in proving it to themselves and the others around them, others have failed and others just made it all up. Gotta find the truth ourselves…
And that usually applies on AP and OBE, or even lucid dreams… People see things differently and some experience to one person can feel completely different to another.
Perhaps there is no ultimate explanation of those…
the big difference for me is being able to control my experience and manifest things at will during LD… the 1 time that I’ve experienced AP I was not able to change my environment and will things into existence.
I’ve been trying to figure this out for too long. Everyone has different opinions on it. According to wikipedia… AP is a paranormal explanation for OBEs. I’ve had an experience that I labeled as an OBE that was nothing like any of my 100+ LDs. However I’ve also talked to people who have had experienced like OBEs but perceived them as vivid LDs unlike me who saw it as a different experience. And one guy I know sees all dreams as low-level AP.
