Hello everyone, this is my first time posting and I apologize if this question has already been answered. I am in a job that doesn’t allow me much sleep and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I should change my plan to get lucid due to my sleep schedule.
For about a month I have been doing at least 5-7 reality checks every day and keeping a dream journal. Also, at night before sleep I repeat in my mind that “the next scene I will see will be a dream.”
My issue is that I haven’t had much in the way of results, no LDs and no great gains in dream recall. Should I change my plan and if so is it not working because I get only 5 hours of sleep a night? Thank you all very much.
Edit: Also, has any research been done into the effect of military training upon lucid dreaming? Thank you all once again.
Sleeping 5 hours a night has a huge effect on everything for me. I normally remember 4+ dreams a night and I had 3 nights in a row of 5 hour nights and I got zero recall last night for the first time in months.
Have you considered a change in sleep schedule? research done on sleep show that people are more productive on less sleep, less likely to die in a car crash, and have a better temperament. Mostly because you can process information faster. It is actually amazing if you look at the difference in people’s lives when they switch to 7-8 hours a night. I was always a “math kid”, fast talker, fast reader, figure things out a little faster than average people so I figured sleep was for the weak. I switched to sleeping 7-8 hours a night and it was like a fog lifted off my brain and I could think way faster and understand more things. It was amazing! I ended up with more time in my day because I was able to finish things faster and the staying up late that I thought I needed to do things actually slowed me down.
No matter what you should get at least 7 - 8 hours of sleep, put lucid dreaming on side and just take this 5 hours and it’s just not healthy. People that i know that say they don’t have time to sleep more is just not true. They make it so that they don’t have more time. If the really needed more time or wanted more time they would make more time.
You can’t change a lot a time you need to wake up in the morning for the job but the time you go to sleep you can alter all you want. Of course I don’t know your life situation, maybe you are a parent, or you have some other obligations but still, you need to make time for yourself because no one can…
