Anyways, I haven’t had a attempted lucid dream yet (all when i was 8-10 years old) But when i did, i remember it being like a PC Game kind of thing where like i could “press” the escape button and it would like go to a menu where i have all these options and “go” to my console and spawn stuff and “go” to like spectator mode where i would go 3rd person flying around and going through walls and stuff. Nerdy i know but i was just wondering if anyone else had this kind of expierence.
That’s an interesting way to control your lucid dreams. Many people find it easier to control their dreams when they use something familiar, so maybe your mind was just doing that. I’ve had similar experiences with using computers to help create more complicated aspects of my dreams. For example, using a dream-version of what appeared to be Blender, I was able to more easily visualize and create my home dreamscape for when I lucid dream.
It’s interesting that you controlled all your powers via console though. Was there something a keyboard floating in front of your hands, or were you actually sitting at a computer “playing” your lucid dream?
Well i wasn’t “trying” to do anything, it all just came naturally, i typed in console without really typing in anything, its as if i was in first person in a game and just bringing up certain menus, thinking stuff up, “pressing” enter in my head and then continuing to “play”, although i was not at a computer literally playing my dream. My powers were probably coming from the familiarty like you said but also from the context as i think i was a RL version of counterstrike lol.
I do this all the time in non-lucid dreams automatically, but if I think about it, it doesn’t work. Usually I’d be in some video game, and be using the keyboard to operate a weapon, go through walls, or in most cases, using some keyboard shortcut to exit the game and escape danger.
Simple idea. Reminds me of a time when i was ‘in’ Bioshock. I was being attacked by a little sister (hopefully someone here played the game) and I could not attack her because i didn’t have my keyboard or mouse. So I’m standing there pressing on my body searching for the ‘Q’ button for some reason. Could only set her on fire once .
I had those all the time. I don’t much anymore because I have decided to stop being so video game obsessive (no offence, that was just talking about me). It’s wierd since there is no controller.
It’s awful, I’m like “I want to quit this game!” but the cartridge (yes, it’s always a cartridge, old-school gaming ftw!!) won’t come out, or if it does, the game keeps going and I can’t stop playing. AAAHHHHH!!!
Or I’m playing a computer game (Like Diablo, if anyone’s ever heard of it) and monsters keep coming after me and I can’t escape and I just attract even MORE monsters. AAAAAAHHHH!!
I had an ND kind of like that, I was playing a game, and somehow (some crazy stuff I know), I ended up in the game, and not thinking it was one. Cleverly not thinking it was a dream, it led to some housefire and some burgers. But you know.
I had a lucid dream like that once! I started of with seeing the game-menu. I pressed play and controlled this supermario character for a while The menu I though was really funny, cos it had “Play”, “Quit”, “Credits” and the other stuff- And I wonder now afterwards, what would have happened if I’d presset “Quit”, or “Credits”
When I was younger not only did I not know what lucid dreaming was(shockedexpressions), but I wondered what would happen if I died in my dreams so I made a massive canyon with a very rickety bridge across it. The bottom was filled with lava and the heat was burning my eyes… I watched myself walk across it and decided to jump…I don’t know what I was expecting but I certainly didn’t predict the massive ‘GAME OVER’ sign flash up at me!! laughs
I’ve never had such kind of dream but I got close when I was young, the dreams where I would fall and “die”, I just fell and layed on the floor as if dead, and then a green semi transparent doom style text box appeared, wich took about half of the screen or my field of vision and it began getting filled with odd yellow characters that I couldn’t and cannot read. I never got to see more than 2 lines of text but I guess the whole thing would get filled if I hadn’t woken up. And that was a recurring dream
Since i code for certain games. As in I would edit the source, save it and play to see the changes. I had a dream where I could program reality. Like if I didn’t like something, i would go in the code, change it and then compile. I would then see the changes in the dream. Was pretty awesome dream.
Oh man oh man, flashback, a floating mario game was what caused me to first LD, of course as a kid i hated the game and it nearly put me off gaming (thankgod for RTS).
I’ve had a video gamestyle dream before. (I’m a slight pokemon fan, I admit)
I was playing Pokemon Pearl, and I decided to “Fly” to the middle of that montain on which Palkia lives…I find CYNTHIA, and then beat her without battling. Then, the rival, Lucas barges in. And this time it becomes a real battle. But something is different…
Lucas is using his OWN body to battle >.> and he’s this weird whitish(like a ghost) color, subtitles appear saying “He is changed.” and then the battle really starts.
I am used to beating in game characters in one attack, so I decided to go easy, I sent out Charizard before the battle really started and had it use firespin:(and it’s weird, I don’t remember what happened but I think I took Charizards view on the battle then, and then it’s weirder 'cause I have the faintest faintest faintest remembrance of wings then)Lucas isn’t fazed, he just says “bad choice”(in text ) or something like that. Then I have charizard use flamethrower(? did I?) and it didn’t really work either. I end up switching out TWICE. But I do remember winning!
After firespin though everything got all blurry, I don’t even remember which pokemon I swapped(but I think it was Squirtle and Ivysaur ) and during firespin it looked real time. Before it, I recall everything getting bigger and bigger, as if I was becoming part of the game. And apparently I did at one point! lol
