I hope you guys can help me find a cure for this. I was trying wild last night, heres what i was doing:
After getting into a relaxed state, i started a breathing excersize where i breath in through my nose, and out through my mouth and say “ahhh”. (This has helped me a lot, but i have this one problem) I was also counting my breaths (i got to 500). I finally have up.
Now let me fill you in, i have braces, and my mouth seems to make alot more spit trying to disolve them. (i hope you can tell where i am going!) Apparently trying to sleep with my mouth open is not the best idea. I wont go into the details, but it got bad…
Maybe you guys can suggest a better WILD technique?
haha! I have braces too, I know how you feel. (just wait for the head gear deary! ) Anywho, try lieing on your side. If you don’t usually like to tell yourself “I like sleeping on my side, I feel great when I sleep on my side” It helps, and DON"T say “I don’t want to sleep on my back” cuz it doen’t work. Say positive things. Okay… so you’ll get a puddle of drool on your pillow… but hey… it’s not that bad and you better get used to it. ( I dunno how long you’ve had braces… I’ve had them for two and a half years and I’m egtting them off soon soooo…) Good luck. Tis the best I can do.
First, i dont think im getting head gear (YAH FOR ME!!!)
second, i do sleep on my side, thats the problem.
Third, this wasnt a puddle…more like a stream or a river
If you have a salivation problem it might not matter anyway…
I gave up WILD and had severe trouble sleeping because I became so conscious of my salivating. I tried not to swallow, but it only made it worse. Soon I’d be swallowing constantly, which made it impossible to find the relaxed state. I was told this was a common problem in Yoga, but I never overcame it and had to quit.
You could do your breathing and relaxation exercise without opening the mouth. BTW, I don’t think it’s a very good thing to focus on breathing while WILD’ing. It seems better to focus on mental stuff (counting, repeating a sentence, looking at HI) than physical stuff. Moreover, if you focus on your breathing while it goes through your throat, it’s likely to make you aware of your mouth, what may make you swallow.
