Meditating during WBTB

Hi Friends,
Jus wanna ask whether meditation during WBTB method helps. I used to do meditation during WBTB. In that i ll affirm that i ll be lucid when i dream. then i ll feel so sleepy that i ll drift off to sleep immediately. I get dreams , many times multiple dreams, but i am not getting lucid. Ok, here is my query.
Does R.E.M during WBTB method depend on deep sleep or even if we are sleeping lightly (Mostly awake) you can have a dream?
And what is the proper way to do dream incubation?

I don’t know if is necessary to meditate when you do WBTB, logically speaking meditation before sleep, of course. You can calm your mind and focus on dreaming or your dream goal.

Like you said, doing meditation during WBTB get’s you very sleep, although maybe it’s good bu only for DILD.

I guess after few hours of sleep we can start to dream even in light sleep, doesn’t have to be REM. Although, some dreamers report that they had dreams in NREM sleep…

The proper technique is the one that gives you the best result or combination of techniques. I know that’s not the answer you expected but it’s the right one. Until few days back I couldn’t get the WILD right, but now I can. It took me almost half a year to achieve that, and I’m still far away from perfecting WILD.

So try to experiment with various techniques, but give every technique time, therefore give yourself a time. You can combine techniques and do whatever you want, but the easiest way is to divide your path toward lucidity in few rough steps:

  1. dream recall
  2. dream incubation
  3. dream control

And then those steps you can divide in more steps, but keep it all realistic, achievable and easy. That’s the way of success and constant motivation.

Good luck!

Thank you DBFTS…I find that most of the time when i do nothing during WBTB i can get Lucid dreams. I dont want to try too hard…
