I don’t know if it happens to you, but in my case, I normally take up a persona, and as such have different background and family. That normally leads to actual stories, in which all sorts of obviously fake things happen, but the thing that’s actually quite strange is, not the FM cause I always point down the dreams, but the memories my DS has, while inside the dream. Specially if the dream lasts longer, usually I wake up with the strange feeling of having lived the same life has my Dream Self, while in real life. It only hits me that I’m dreaming in some cases, when for example I remember slaying a dragon, or setting a hot air balloon on fire and having barely escaped.
It makes me wonder if any of my memories is real, because you can’t be sure.
Definitely happens to me in a sense, yes. Due to the rather vague nature of memories, dreams and actual happenings seem to mix when I remember them. For example, I thought my uncle was an airline pilot until I was about 13. He’s a real estate agent. The only reason I thought otherwise was because I had a dream he was a pilot.
Another facet of that is that I can remember my dreams much more vividly than say, my twelfth birthday. I honestly can’t remember any of my birthdays except the last two I’ve had. And yet I could tell you about all the lucid dreams I’ve had just off the top of my head. It seems odd that, in many cases, I remember the events that happened in a fictitious world much better than actual events that occurred in my past.
I think I know what you mean. Like in the dream you have a past as if you have always been there. For my they don’t coincide enough with RL to confuse them, but I love those dreams. They seem so much more real and meaningful to me.
Exactly, besides being super-useful when you use that character to an actual story arc. And they feel as if that dream means something, and has a deep connection to yourself. Feels weird though…
added to this sometimes, when you hang out with your friends and they are sharing their different experiences , you remember even more interesting and exhilarating one from your LDs n when you share it, they feel a bit odd cause whatever you had experienced was not real, but just a dream…
although that doesn’t really make much of a difference to you…for you know that reality is very subjective in nature…
Yeah, but that brings you to that question. If dreams are a part of your night, they are a part of you, so in fact you have experienced them, right?
I feel people don’t pay enough attention to dreams. They are some of the most intense and powerful experiences anybody can ever have. So why treat them as they are nothing but a product of your imagination, with no meaning whatsoever? Even mere products of imagination have meanings! But that brings us to another topic, I don’t know if it was in the “Stuff” forum, in which a guy asked what we thought a dream revolving society…
