The MILD technique works really well for me, but only when I am aiming for dream recall. Whenever I try to use MILD to induce a LD, I have really bizare and freaky nightmares. Does this happen to anyone else?
Yikes! I am always afraid that when I get in a Lucid Dream I will think “Cool, everything is real-ish now… aah, if I saw something scary now…” and then something from my worst fears will appear!
On a more psychological note, maybe it is an anxiety dream? Most nightmares are spurred off of anxiety or stress, maybe you are anxious about what will happen in the dream? That could be way off though ahah.
Yeah, That could be it, maybe. I don’t feel stressed or anything, but maybe when I first used the technique to induce a LD, I had a nightmare that was unconnected to MILD and somehow connected it to the nightmare as the cause. Maybe it isn’t the cause, but when I connected it, I just assumed that it would happen again? It did happen again last night by the way.
Try to use it to your advantage! If you’re expecting a nightmare, prepare for it! Decide to go lucid when it comes! Fear can be a dreamsign, it makes you more alert too. Weird things are dreamsigns. It’s good that the practise has an effect. It’s worse when it does nothing.
That is a really interesting idea. And an awesome one! I didn’t even think about that and I can’t believe I didn’t. This little dilema could lead to my first LD and the end of my nightmares. yay, two birds with one stone! Thanks. I’m going to give it a go.
