I had a strange dream in which a DC showed me my mind. Not my brain, my mind, the actually collection of thoughts, memories, ideas, and dreams. It was set up a little like a circuit board (explained more in detail in my DJ). The DC told me that this place was what i was trying to access and that i would have full control over all of it once i achieved full lucidity.
I would like to know if anyone has experienced this or anything like it. I figure either I am on the verge of something amazing or I just had a crazy messed up dream, but the only way to really know is A. If i achieve full lucidity (lucid on command) and/or B. Some other people experience this or even just enter a lucid dream and ask around a bit.
Well the only way to find out is to try for yourself! I am a bit more grounded when it comes to dreaming. I believe that dreams are symbolic, and while we can learn from them, they don’t give us full access to our minds, but you can always try to prove me wrong
Yeah, i really would like to find out. Ive only had one lucid dream and it collapsed pretty fast after i achieved lucidity and ive had a really hard time getting another one in spite of coming close multiple times. But hopefully once my stress levels go down a bit and i get a good run at some of the induction techniques ill be able to get it and really dive into my mind.
what would you do though if it did happen? Wouldnt it only be when you are dreaming? Or do you think you would carry it into RL? It wouldnt help you much if you couldnt access in your normal life would it? Or maybe you could learn some new stuff while dreaming and bring the knowledge into your everyday life? Let us know if anything has happened since and if you managed it, Im curious now.
It is actually symbolic! Because you can’t really face your own mind as you are part of it. It is like staring at a mirror, you see your reflection but it is only an identical image. The real you is not what you actually see, but very close to it
If i gained control over my mind, and pure unbridled access like the DC told me i could have then there are a number of problems i would begin to fix, starting with my anxiety, depression, and paranoia. I also would like to explore, considering we apparently only use 10 percent of our brains it would be interesting to see if i could change this, see if there are any pathways (physical neuron pathways) i could open up through this control. This sort of control over my mind is actually one of the reasons i began to lucid dream, i first started out of curiosity, then wanted it more as a meditative escape, now I am hoping i can fix my mental problems through a simple inside out rehabilitation of sorts. I was working towards summoning certain things such as depression and such and hopefully my brain would present these things in a dreamscape form so i can at least see what it looks like (why i would subject myself to that i dont know, i just want to see it) but now i have hope to not just see it, but to fix it. almost like conquering a nightmare and thus conquering a fear.
haha when i say full lucidity i mean complete control over the dreamscape. Ability to enter a dream and on a whim be anywhere/anytime/anything. if what i saw was my mind, and you can access your mind through dreams, then if you have that sort of control over the dreamscape then you may be able to control more than your dreams. The mind is a powerful and largely unexplored/unknown thing. This sort of exploration of it could be an extreme breakthrough in the science of psychology, sleep, and even possibly death.
Well, you can definitely address those from within your dreamscape. In fact, I would wager it would be easier from there, since you are in your mind and can make use of its controlling the dreamscape to help you confront what you need to confront.
Circuit board? To me it sounds a lot like how I used to think of things in my brain. I’d forgotten about the “classifications” in my brain. I think I used to use it more to describe my photographic memory, but I barely remember that anymore. I used to think of it like a filing cabinet, but somehow with a bunch of connections. This actually sounds really interesting to do… Like, what reading this topic made me think of was something similar to this:
Ask something of your choice (or the dream itself) to show you a “map” of your mind. Search through the map for what you want to find. I can imagine it would be very complex, as there would be many, many connections between different things, and many, many areas to explore. Likely, you would only get certain parts at first, such as memories. If I decide to go searching through forgotten memories of a few years back, I’d search for that in the “map.” I would then probably try to “select” it, and either be taken back there or be shown a movie-like representation of what I’m looking for.
Of course, now it interests me to see whether you can actually mess with the memories or connections between various “areas” in the “map.” Of course, you’ll have memories of messing with it, but if the change works, it would be very interesting to see indeed. Maybe I’ll put a variety of goals to accomplish in this way in my list of things to do in the future.
Well I’ve never experienced this before, but I’ve been trying to. Usually exploring my mind is pretty high on my to do list, but I’m never lucid enough to remember.
It sounds like to me that this could be his dream guide.
I would like to find mine. I find when I become lucid, dream charecters become easy to control and don’t have much of a brain. Once while lucid, I asked them if they were real and they said “No” and I asked them if they were real in the sence that “i think therefore I am” and they again said no. I was disapointed all I was getting was "no " answers. sucks lol. I wonder if my dream guide is watching me from the distance.
I have no doubt that it’s possible… I’ve done it! Helped me get over depression! I’m fully aware that it’s probably a mind-over-matter thing, but when your problems stem from your mind, what does it matter?
Ive noticed that in order to remember to do something in your lucid dreams then it has to be part of your subconscious wants (especially in the early stages). for example i can never remember to try and access my mind but i normally remember to try and fly. I think this is because once i feel i have enough control to fly and change dreamscapes ill be better equipped to journey deeper, so in short i really want to learn to fly.
I’ve noticed the same thing, and that’s a lot of the reason for my Goal/Progress Journal topic (and the journal itself when I’m keeping it and a DJ). I find my LDs are more focused and I remember goals better if I have the goal as a priority and I want to accomplish the goal. My LD this morning I almost don’t want to count because I was so low lucid, but I do recall knowing I was dreaming while attempting to fly higher than I normally can. (Dreams like the one this morning were quite common when I was younger and didn’t really have goals for my LDs.)
