I wonder if getting MORE sleep will help with LDs, because being less tired will mean your concious mind can do a better job with realizing you’re dreaming.
Although it would shorten REM periods, so I dunno.
Thoughts?

dunno m8
I think it may be the opposite. I mean, it’s not a very scientific explanation, but when I was more tired than usual I managed to LD. I think it’s because it was easier to relax.
but im a deep sleeper who falls completely out of it within 5 minutes of putting my head down and i havent ld. i fully reelax immediatly
It really helps me alot to get like 10-11 hours of sleep because on the days when I have to wake up early, I can forget about even having a dream recall(let alone a LD). I’m not going to beat around the bush though, I find that when I have to get up in the middle of the night (like to take a leak) I can WILD into a LD really quickly once I lay back down. Yeah, a bit weird…but it works really well for me, and I can continue a dream right away if I was woken up in the middle of it (a week or two ago I WILDed back into the same dream 3 times* in one night).
*no I didn’t have to piss 3 times in the middle of the night, sheesh…
generally the longer the sleep, the longer the REM cycles get. Why do you suggest the rem cycles would be shortened? Either way, with longer time, you get more REM period frequency. So you get more chances to realise this.
Has little to do with fatigue, in both states your body is in a regenerative phase, a REM cycle doesn’t care whether you’ve had 20 hours sleep or 2.
well he’s right that you have initial longer REM cycles when you are very tired BUT as n00dle said the longer you sleep, the longer the REM cycles are in the morning.
Thats why most LDs happen during the morning hours.
Its odd , its rare that I have dream the morning…
