This morning I woke up with some dream recall. But then I realized it was early on the morning. Why did mom wake me up? Then it dawned on me it wasn’t thursday or friday, as I seemed to think. I realized it was saturday and remembered why did I wake up early, and as I did so my recall was gone.
Did any of you ever have this kind of morning “amnesia”? Why does it happen?
I think it happens because of distractions: When your mind is distracted from a dream, it no longer pays attention to it, and forgets it. Likewise, when your mind is busy with a dream, it cannot recall IRL information such as date and objective.
I believe everyone has. I think dreams are fragile memories, and if you don’t give it some real life concious thought to it, it will fade away. I believe we always forget the dream mind part, it’s just that you replayed those memories to engrave them in your head.
^ that is just my opinion, you are completly welcome to disagree with it
Oh!! I HATE this…it’s so frustrating, but sometimes it’ll come back to me during the day.
I have to think very clearly on my dream and not let myself get distracted, it’s really hard! But the more you recall, the better it will get, the stronger it will get and the more reliable it will get!!
I just had this lol, but it wasn’t in the morning. I went to sleep at 17:00 today and woke up at 18:00 because of dinner :. I woke up and I looked outside, thinking it was the next morning. I was also wondering why my mouth tasted funny, and it was the gum on the top of my mouth that I was chewing on.
I get this quite a lot. It’s as a result of real time happenings crowding out the recall function.
Usually I get it because one of the cats wants to go out, or the baby is crying, or the birds are singing, or the neighbor is leaving for work or the…well you get the idea.
It’s really frustrating. I’m not totally convinced that we’re even supposed to remember our dreams at all. I mean if we were then it wouldn’t be so flipping difficult would it?!!!
