Alright, so I wake up at 5am to use the WBTS method to lucid dream. I had the subject of lucid dreaming in my head all night. I stay up until about 5:55 am and then I go back to sleep. 20 minutes passed and I thought “Why am I not asleep yet?”.
i did a reality check. Before I went to sleep, i wrote on my hand the word “Dream” , but when I looked at it, it looked something like this “SdnsGsjdn
OSdr”
At that point I knew I was dreaming. So I get up and stand at the end of my bed. I think to myself “Ok, time to see if i can hover” and, I start hovering about a foot off of the ground. Im thinking “Awesome, now i’m going to go out and see the world!”. So I go up to my window and I try to push to go through it (Like walking though walls), but I couldn’t. I thought it was because I didnt have any confidence, so I say “I CAN go through this window!” and I push again, but I still cannot go through. I think, “ok I guess I can go out the door”, but as I twist the door knob, It seems as though it is locked, but the thing is, there is no lock on my door. At that point I think “Wow, ok so I cant get out”. All of a sudden a witch, or a wizard appears in my room. I cant really remember what they said, or did. The only thing I remeber was a monkey claw (Kind of like the one in the simpsons Treehouse of Horror Episode), on my endtable next to my bed.
Thats all I remeber.
If someone could explain why I was unable to exit my room, it would be greatly appriciated.
It was your first lucid dream and you did more then most of us did so don’t worry. This kind of things are solved with practice inside the dream… Therefore with more lucid dreams you’ll learn more things and such things will not be a problem.
You could open the window, trying to push through is a little bit harder in the sense but it doesn’t have to be. It’s different from person to person. I failed with walking through walls but I could walk through mirror and mostly windows in my dreams don’t have glass so I just flew out…
I now realise that If I want to do anything I want In my dream, it takes practise
I dont know why I did not just open the window, I guess I was thinking that if I could Phase through it, then I would know for sure that I was dreaming. I didnt want to open the window, try to fly, and just fall.
Once again, thanks alot, I will keep doing reality checks in the day and hopefully I will build New Ferington (The city I wish to build)
Yeah, I’ve noticed that even that’s a dream we need to go easily once we are inside one because we are learning in environment that is new to us and there is nothing like a physical world we live in.
There is no physical body so we can’t open a window exactly but we can do that with our mind but we need to learn that because when we were born we didn’t know how to walk, not even crawl so inside dreams things are very similar.
Your over thinking… The idea is you wanna just do it rather than think “ok I can do this” and then focusing on going through it. Too much focusing on an object will make it possible to fly through. In my first lucid dream I simply though ok I wanna fly to the moon (preplanned) so I simply jumped through my window not thinking about it. Just remember to think of the location rather than struggling to perform the action to get to the location.
An example of where I over though something was when I couldn’t get my bedroom door to open to my school library. I was focusing too much on the door rather than the library itself.
You can check out my first lucid dream in the link below to see how I just did things rather than over thinking them.
