I’m feeling myself slipping into a dream but then my heart rate gets very rapid and I open my eyes in fear.
Has this happend to you? What is it?

Fear?
I ask you, to tell me what exactly you are “afraid” of while going through this process. I can assure you there is nothing to fear while you are experiencing the magic of WILD (I presume you use this technique?..or a variation…?)
Your heartbeat seems to harden and actually feel alot more like its thumping against your chest as you go deeper into the relaxed state before sleep. It’s perfectly normal to experience this if you’re ‘new’ to the whole aspect of lucid dreaming…even most experienced dreamers will still experience this every so often. It means your almost there, althought slightly uncomfortable it may be, you should try to remember that its normal and once you get past the fear of the uncertainties, it will fluidly progress into a dream.
use the heartbeat as a means of relaxation no matter how fast you perceive it to be beating, use it to breathe and focus. let go of the feeling, let the heart beat throughout you entirely with every beat you will go deeper, and get closer to your dream.
hope it helps, have fun.
hey jonas!
i had the same thing. is it when you feel like your chest is beating really hard and youre struggling to breathe? coz if it is it kinda helps me to think about something else, like my next dream adventure! i heard that its just youre blood pressure dropping or something so its nothing harmful. happy dreaming!
Hi Jonas
It’s hard to diagnosis this without experiencing it myself. You could have dreamt your heart was racing, but it’s also natural for your heart rate to change during certain sleep patterns.
There has been some news recently that the body burns more calories sleeping then when awake and resting.
It’s natural, and you are ok.
Like everyone else said, it’s natural. When I attermpt to WILD, I expierience the same thing. Just breathe and stay calm. I find that repeating “I am going into a lucid dream.” helps me a lot wiith the fear.
Of course, you’ll have the luxury of no alarm clock ruining your relaxation right before you REACH lucidity
You got exicted which is why your heart sped up.
Yeah, this is exactly what it’s like. It feels like my breathes aren’t taking in as much air.
But I actually succeeded in going lucid last night so I don’t think it’s a problem anymore.
Hey jonas congrats on being lucid then! i find it really hard sometimes to be able to get to sleep when it happens and maybe because its that trying too hard to keep calm like "don’t move, keep still, " and that makes things worse?
