My Take on LL

This is, as the title says, what I interpret Lucid Living to be. I generally try to practice this when my mom is driving me somewhere (you can practice this as you’re driving, but just remember to pay attention to the road. I am not responsible for any car crashes that may be caused by practicing this while driving). Anyhow, this guide will tell you how to do what I think LL is - that is, receiving sensory input from as many of your 5 senses as possible. By doing this, you increase your chances of noticing something odd in your dreams that causes you to be lucid.

  1. As your mind rellies mostly on the sense of sight, first off, try to expand your vision. What I mean by this is that you should try to look around, take in as much of the scenery as you can. Most ppl walk through life only looking at the ground/road/empty air in front of them. Look at the trees, the houses, and try to take it all in. You can narrarate everything that you see to yourself in your head if that helps. And don’t just sit there, staring out the car window onw place as the scenery whips past you. Actually move your head. And whenever you see something strange, like a hot pink car or a cow that looks like it actually has a shred of intelligence, do a reality check. This not only increases your chances of having a LD but helps me appreciate the beauty of the world.
NOTE: you can do this in your house as well, but youre probably well aquainted with the walls/floors/ceiling and a moving vehicle provides new and changing scenery.

  2. Next, try to hear and see everything around you (see where I’m going with this? You can do this by turning on the radio/listen to the hum of the wheels over the road and looking out the window. Make sure you remember to use your sight and hearing equally - if you lose focus you might find that one of your senses ‘blacks out’ and you receive less info from one sense. If you’re in your house when you’re trying this you can open a window and listen to the wind in the trees or the birds chirping.

  3. Next, try to see, hear, and feel everything. Whenever you pick up something or if you’re just resting your hands try to feel everything you touch at the exact same time as sight and hearing (this is where it starts requiring real concentration).
NOTE: this is the step that I’m on.

  4. It’s probably not reasonable to try to feel taste or smell your surroundings as well as everything above since (I hope) you don’t eat or smell things all the time. But if you’re going out for a picknick sometime you could try this, although I haven’t and it’s probably incredibley difficult.

If you have a question or just want to leave a comment, feel free to post below and I will try to get back to you. Thanks for reading this, and happy lucid dreaming  !

hi!

Nice topic, LL can be really helping as long as you do it all day long.

You should read the books of Laberge.
He talks about LL and how to do it. He doesn’t call it that way but he explains how the monks did it by assuming that everything is a dream etc…

I’ve had great luck with the sporadic awareness tech (SAT) i read on dreamview i think. It is similar but only done when you think of it, though I find myself doing it more and more often.

Basically I just try to be really aware for a few minutes before I actually do a few RCs. Works well and it’s probably easier at first

LL probably is more effective once you get used to it though.
