My worst nightmares that I have ever had are terrible. To make matters worse, they are reoccuring. I have been having these nightmares ever since I was six years old. In these dreams I am having a normal talk with either my mom, grandma, grandpa, or aunt, it is mostly my mom. All of a sudden I turn around and they have a knife at my throat. I don’t know what these dreams mean, but they make me afraid to go to sleep. I don’t have these dreams every night. It may be just two to three times a week. Also sometimes the weapons change it may be a gun or a sharp object. If anyone knows a cure for these terrible recorring nightmares please send me a reply!
Remember to tell yourself “I accept this” in those dreams.
Fear is non-acceptance. If you accept things as they are, the fear will dissapear.
Good luck.
On top of that, it’s reoccurring, making it easier to ‘notice’ in a dream, and could just be a key to lucid dreaming.
With that, you might be able to get rid of nightmares, as had happened to me.
However, this could be a lot of work, and there may be an easier solution.
Remembering that it’s all in your mind, you can acknowledge that you can’t really be hurt, and the dream can continue after that, with you untouched, and find a solution.
Nightmares are dreams devoted to a certain problem, and it is possible for this reason to cope with that specific issue in the nightmare to solve it.
You could outline the problem beforehand, by remembering what could be a cause for the nightmare to occur. What are you talking about with the DC? How do you feel about the situation? Why do you turn around? For what reason this happens?
When you have found out more, you’ll discover the dream is telling you something, and the next move is up to you. Acknowledgement and acceptance can work in most cases, as Grand Speculator said, so just try to find out more on the situation.
I wish you good luck.
Hey freevampire!
I was never in such a situation, but I think you should try to connect these dream contents with the ideas of Spec and Tosxychor. That means:
If you think about it ,say to yourself something like: This happends only in my dreams.
Think hard about, what to do in this situation:
This happends only in my dreams. I should… (accept this;sing; ask the person something) however it should change the situation.
Before you go to sleep, think about what you are going to do in your nightmare.
In your nightmare you have to remember and ACT!
I think it´s dream intention (please correct me, if i`m wrong)you can also use it (download said it before) to become lucid.
good luck
you’re going to need to ask them why, stay in the dream and learn about it,
look around, look at everything you can, learn about it, the answers are there, ask questions, get answers,
i am guessing you are very afraid of people punishing you, confronting you, telling you to do things, ordering you, bossing you,
do you have some sort of secrets ?
the knife and the gun is really something that is the fear of talking, the fear of confrontation, the fear of conversation, the fear of power, of being harmed by an-other, you must have something in you on some level related to these people in your family that is traumatic or they would be OTHER PEOPLE in the dream
/learn from an old nightmare of mine \
i receive a package from my grandmother, i open it and it is full of nails, the nails harm me, ( i am blending maybe more than 1 dream together ) , as i go and find her, she is terrifying
there is a hideous, terrible, ungodly fear,
it came out of the package, to me,
and i looked at her and loved this ,
creature
and she became more human, and felt relieved, and no longer so threatening to me, and said thank you
EXPLANATION
: EVER SINCE FOREVER MY GRANDMOTHER IS A CONDUIT OF TREMENDOUS STRESS AND ANXIETY AND FEAR
she would hold her hands around my neck when i was little at airports so tight, SO MUCH ANXIETY
i was always calm and relaxed ,
THE PACKAGE = HER ENERGY ,
hey do you want some candy ? some popsicles? JUST SAY NO ,
sometimes just being around people, they carry bad bad bad bad bad bad vibrations, and these can come out in dreams
i don’t know why but i see the insides of my dad’s mind sometimes, all the junk he watches on tv, sort of,
on a vacation away from the same home, i dreamed i was livid, yelling at him, for this tremendous mess he made (in the mind) which he now had to deal with on his own (because i was further away from his , what, aura? vibrations )
dreams have all answers to consciousness questions.
(actually no anger, i was scolding him and rebuking him for the mess, which i had somehow escaped having been sleeping in another place )
you can solve this while you are awake if you relax , take some good time, and ask yourself the question (something like ) " why am i having this dream?"
and let your mind form answers, and see what it says,
love, peace, forgiveness,
love, peace, forgiveness,
just remmber your nightmares make yoi stronger in waking life, and they allso help to build charecter. ive had some horrible nightmares, and im glad for it. there is no diffrance between expirancing your nightmares in the dream world then waking life, if there were you would become lucid right? so think of it like a simulated life expirance. i like to think of it as bootcamp training in away. so when you have it again just tell yourself you are stronger, and wiser now. I think thats why we have nightmares.
You could be practical about it. If you know you are going to have dreams in which your elders pull knives on you, remember to thank them every time this makes you realise you are dreaming. If you don’t manage to get rid of the dreams, at least feel safe, knowing that you can depend on your mom to tell you when you are dreaming. The threat of the sharp blade is a particularly good trick to make you sharpen your mind. Fear makes you alert.
At the moment i’am practicing autosuggetion. It can help you to get rid of nightmares and negative thoughts.
Not that I’ll make a very important suggestion, but I want to say that when I used to have nightmares; I’d end up being lucid in them (I would just know that it was too scary to be real) (even though I didn’t know about lucid dreaming back then). I didn’t know that I could change them, so I would just shut my eyes, say to myself “I’ll wake up when I count to three and open my eyes.” and do what I said. I woke every time. I’m now sad that I missed all those chances. I must’ve had over 50 lucid dreams that I wasted.
I think you should see your nightmares as a chance to induce lucid dreams, and I believe that eventually you would get rid of them.
Good luck.
