I am beggining to notic an alarming trend among all of those that I meet within my dreams, almost all of them are hostile towards me.
It happens during any kind of dream, everytime I meet someone they will either throw a threat, say something a little disturbing or act extrmemely friendly, with the latter only happening in a few cases.
I am curious to why this is, I wish to fix this situation and have friendly dealings with the characters in my sleep because I find it hard to hold a lucid dream with everyone trying to stop me in some way. Is it to do with my personality? The environment I live in?
Dreams are influenced a lot by our thoughts. Just as how they say we are what we eat, in my opinion dreams are what we think of. Try it if you wish: put around notes to remind you, get an alarm to ring throughout the day, tell people to remind you that you etc. to think of something (though not an idea or theory - they may work too, but only more difficultly) a LOT. You will dream of it. Just like in the tetris effect, when enough time is devoted to a thought; it starts popping up without any work to be done.
My guess about the hostility of your DCs stands with this point. Do you live in an environment whose standard people are what you would define “hostile”? Do you watch many movies or spend a lot of time playing video games with hostile characters?
Don’t forget that those dreams are your dreams and when you’re lucid, the DCs will act like you want them to act. Even if they start off unfriendly, you can will them to do anything you want, and being non-hostile is of course one of the possibilities
I mentioned here once before that the more lucid dreams I’ve had, the more hostile they’ve become toward me. So you seem to be moving along the same path.
Thank you for your replies, I guess you could say the environment I live in is filled with people generally hostile to anyone. But I also don’t interact with these people a lot either.
I ask them questions when possible, I get ignored a lot from them or say something like “Why should I tell you?”. Before I can respond the dream normally becomes unstable and my lucidity is thrown off.
Ignore them if you can. If someone is too annoying just realize DC is made of dream materia and pull it into your hand. Others will be more cautious to bother you.
Dream scene, things, objects, DCs bodies etc. is made of something. This something we can name as “dream materia”. As a lucid dreamers we can manipulate it.
Anytime I see deep, shadowy water this big shark comes right straight up out of the water and eats me. He’s like a Great White only instead of his body being black it’s blue. Mr. Blue seems to not like me in his ocean very much. He’s like one of those horrible Lurker Sharks in Jak and Daxter. I’m completely terrified of him!
Did you see the movie Inception? sounds a hell of a lot like it
really though, when it comes to environments and characters in the dreams, i think it’s what you think most, like some people said here. but i don’t think it’s because there are necessarily hostile people in your environment. for example, it’s been 5 years since i graduated school, but most of my dreams are still situated in a school… it’s because i went through some really ugly stuff there and i guess it stuck. so it might not be because there’s a lot of angry people around you… might be some encounter you had in the past, or multiple encounters. also, maybe it’s the thing that… even if you don’t interact a lot with these hostile people in real life, you think about it and maybe fear or fret over having to talk with them. that might manifest in your dreams. also… it might be that you think most people are hostile when they’re not (happened to me before…), and that can also be a reason of your dream characters being all mean to you. anyway, that’s my two cents worth
actually, since you seem to not have many problems getting a lucid dream, i think trying to resolve this problem in the dreams would be best. that’s what i want to do with the school problem in my dreams too, because i believe it’s not only the dreams it’s haunting - it also affects my reality through my subconscious. so i think you should try to confront them in the dream. i just don’t know how, cause you say they won’t talk to you. i guess you’d have to read up a little on that i’m still far from the point where i can try anything similar…
