I have been LD’ing on and off for around 4 years now. I have had numerous LD’s however I always have a problem when doing it
I watched Inception last night and ironically had a Lucid Dream this morning . However, every time I have an LD they do not seem “real”. I remember being in a car and not remembering how I got here and eventually realised I was dreaming . I did a RC and then I remember flying about and stuff. However it did not seem “real”, it did not seem conscious. The only way I can describe it is that it was a “pre determined” dream and I was watching myself having an LD on a movie screen or something. It felt like I was watching myself LD’ing but I wasn’t actually there and taking control of the dream, yet I clearly remember doing RC and being there. It feels like I remembered it in the morning after I woke up and that I was not there in “real time”.
Is this just a simple case of needing to build up dream memory through the use of a dream log? It really frustrates me!
It sounds to me like the dream wasn’t very stable or vivid. There are varying degrees of lucidity as well, and it seems like you were at a pretty low level.
One major thing you can do to improve this is, like you said, to keep a dream journal. This will help a lot with the vividness issue and you’ll be able to remember dreams much more. Another thing you can do is to work on stabilization techniques such as spinning and rubbing your hands. Basically just try to engage your senses within the dream world, especially your sense of touch. That will make the dream more stable and make it seem more real.
That was a FLD, my friend. Or, at least, that’s how you describe it. FLD’s are in fact ND’s where you dream about a lucid dream. It’s a very obvious DS, but you can’t do anything about it. A “full” or real LD is when you are yourself (just like IRL) and you know it is most definitely a dream you are in.
FLD’s are pains. Thou, there are also LD’s with a very low lucidity grade. When you are lucid, you know it’s a dream, but you get carried away by the story of the dream and you forget that you are lucid (or not).
I also had a FLD (just one - thank God ) and it was frustrating the moment I woke up. It’s crazy I now, to dream about you having a lucid dream.
