Hey guys I’m pretty new to LD’ing. I’ve had only one so far on my quest which isn’t too bad considering I only started trying about a week ago. Until tonight I’ve been trying the MILD technique but most times I just have ND’s.
Tonight I downloaded a binaural beat to my ipod and layd in my bed to try the WILD technique. But every time I started to drift into sleep paralysis I would start to get scared which induced the sweats really bad, and my heart was pounding. Not wanting to move my body and interupt WILD’ing, I stayed still as long as I could. But my heart was beating so fast and I was in fear to be honest, thinking that when I do start to dream it would be a nightmare. After an hour or so I had to get up and get a glass of water.
So my question is, is it normal to react that way? and what can I do to try and stay calm and keep my heart from pounding like that?
Im not an expert on SP but I do know your reaction was normal, especially since you’re new to it. In fact im surprised you started with it. This is a difficult technique…

Im also starting out just like you, sadly I havent achieved a true lucid dream yet. But for me I realized after a while, you get use to the feeling and wont over react as much the next time.
So keep at it, and eventually it will become a norm.
Also always think positive, if you think you will have a nightmare you will! Its all in the mind, and if do happen to land in one, your the controller. Be the badass! lol
Yep! and the heartbeat thing is an illusion. Also if you feel like you can’t breathe, another illusion (these things won’t happen all the time. For me it just happens the minority of the times I get SP). Understandable to freak out and all but just know you can’t get hurt or anything.

Thanks guys! and breathing has been a problem as well. Not the fact of not being able to breath but it becomes irregular and it starts to freak me out. Another problem I have is that I can lay in bed for a long time without moving but it seems like I don’t enter the hypnogogic stage and start to dream no matter how long I wait. Any ideas on what I can try?
A week and you alreay got one LD?

you’re realy lucky. All I can say is that i haven’t tried the WILD technique but after a while you get used to it.
Hmm I think you were trying to do a WILD right when you sleep arent you? I was doing the same thing and haven’t really made as much progress as I did when I once did a WBTB. Try MILD before you goto sleep, then a WBTB + WILD. Good luck!
