New technique - gave me 3 LD's this morning

Hi!

I tried something new this morning after having slept for about 4-5
hours:

Instead of stating my intend to get lucid dreams I repeated to myself
“I’m dreaming” with about 1 minute intervals. Nothing new in this. But
I have found in the past it can be hard to do this. Suddenly you will
have forgotten and fallen asleep. Then I have tried to combining it
with a RC: Saying “Am I dreaming?” and making a reality check
(counting fingers) with about 1 minute intervals (the more sleepy you
are, the shorter the intervals should be, I think). It works fine, but
nothing new in that either.

I think that the key may be to say “This is a dream” (or whatever will
remind you) PLUS making something physical. That is: A MENTAL task
combined with a PHYSICAL task. Because I think that might keep you
better awake while falling asleep.

Tonight while I was still very sleepy I found a way to do this:
I said “I am dreaming” with 1 minute intervals - and the first time I
said it, I pressed my thumb against my little finger. Next time I said
it, I pressed my thump against the next finger, then the next, and
then the thumb against the index finger. After that I would do it with
the other hand…pressing my thumb against a new finger (the next in
the row) for every “I am dreaming”.

Not only is this a physical task, it’s also a mental task, because
you’re saying “I’m dreaming” (which is also the reminder of course),
but it’s ALSO a mental task because it is hard to remember which
finger was next!!

So that kept me awake, till I suddenly said “I am dreaming” and sure
enough I became aware that in fact I did!

Simple technique - hope you try it and report back!

Thomas

Toutching your thumb to your finger in a logical manner keeps the logical part of your brain motivated.

I’ll try it.

Technodreamer

The moving doesn’t wake you up? :eh:

That sounds like a very neat idea.i dont think theres much movement required.Guess everyone can suit him/herself…can be counting your fingers by bending them(so u dont have to move your whole hand),squeezing one of your fingers…so on so on.
worth trying indeed.

Ill try it, rigth now…

Sage:

When I make the movement I’m already awake waiting to fall asleep. Because I repeat it, I suddenly want to make it when I dream, thus realizing I dream.

Jack:

I wouldn’t count my fingers by bending or squeezing them. Because it’s only (in my experience) when you count them visually that there’re more or less than five (thus working as a reality test). If you count them kinesthetically, there just five - I think the reason could be, that we know our body better kinesthetically than visually.

This morning:

I tried it again - induced me a WILD. But I combined it with imagining myself doing something with great movement - in my case: Jumping on a trampolin high above a tall building…falling down again, down to the ground…jumping again, high in the air - and so on.

I think this works, because the first sense we come into a dream with, and the last sense we leave a dream with, is our kinesthetically sense.
So I will simply imaging doing something with great movement (could also be sailing on a wild ocean for example) in between the “I’m dreaming”.

Thomas

Good idea, i always forget to repeat “i’m dreaming”, and just fall asleep. I’ll try that the next time i do WBTB .

Hey, btw, are you the same Thomas that was posting on alt.dreams.lucid? I think i remember your last name, Gjedde, you had very much success with RC’s .

Ulrik:

Yes, I’m from alt.dreams.lucid too.
And if I’m not mistaken, we’re both from Denmark! Hej Ulrik!

Yes, I have incredible succes with reality test!!

I have found most succes, if I reality check along the day (for instance once every hour) by counting my fingers, wake up at night and make a lot of reality checks for just about 10 minutes, then going back to sleep and still doing them while falling asleep (once every 1-2 minute for instance). Then I will suddenly make a check in a dream.

I would like to know of good reality checks. I know some:

Reading text
Counting fingers
Penetrate solid object
Try to fly
Try to alter the form or number of a certain object
Backtracking (Why am I here? How have I gotten here?)
Looking for something unusual
Breathing through closed nose

Does anyone know some good RC’s that can be added to the list. RC’s you can do while falling asleep is really good, if you want to do like I have described above.

Here’s how my reality test project when. I find it succesfull:

DAY 1: After about 8 hours of rest, I woke up and remembered 2-3
dreams. Made a reality check before going back to sleep. Had 3
lucid dreams.
DAY 2: Good dream recall from the night. Vivid dreams. No lucids. Took
a morning nap. Couldn’t remember a thing from the nap!!
DAY 3: Lucid moment, but only for a short moment before waking up.
DAY 4: EXTREMELY vivid dreams!
DAY 5: Lucid 2 times this night! The first followed by extreme WILD
sensations.
DAY 6: Lucid, but only for a very short moment. I was already about to
wake up.
DAY 7: Looooong Lucid dream!! Yeah!
DAY 8: No lucids.
DAY 9: No lucids. DAY 10: No lucids. Not much sleep either though.
DAY 11: 2 lucid dreams!!
DAY 12: No lucids. Very vivid dream though with good recall.
DAY 13: No lucids. Vivid dreams
DAY 14: Short moment of lucidity, which turned into a lucid nightmare!
DAY 15: 2 lucid dreams in my morning nap! DAY 16: One lucid dream
DAY 17: One lucid dream DAY 18: 2 lucid dreamsDAY 19: 2 lucid dreams
DAY 20: no lucid dreams DAY 21: A VERY LOOONG lucid dream
DAY 22: No lucid dreams. Very exciting and vivid dreams, though.
DAY 23: 5 lucid dreams!!!
DAY 24: No lucid dreams.
DAY 25: 1 lucid dream
DAY 26: 2 lucid dreams!
DAY 27: Short moment of lucid nightmare + short moment of lucidity
DAY 28: No lucid dreams. Lots of weird dreams though.
DAY 29: No lucid dreams. I feel I’m in a dry period!DAY 30: 4 lucid dreams!
DAY 31: 1 lucid dream. I was being waked up.
DAY 32: 1 lucid dream + one lucid moment.
DAY 33: 1 lucid moment, but with weak visuals.DAY 34: 1 lucid dream
DAY 35: 1 lucid dreamDAY 36: No lucid dreamsDAY 37: No lucid dreams
DAY 38: 2 lucid moments in the morning
DAY 39: Many short lucid dreams in a row, induced by me counting
fingers. This was in the last hour of my sleep, where I hadbeen up for
about 5 min. counting my fingers many times.
DAY 40: 1 short lucid dream + WILD sensations in the morning nap, but
couldn’t turn it into a complete lucid dream.DAY 41: 1 semi-lucid dream
DAY 42: 1 semi-lucid dream
DAY 43: I were close doing a WILD, but I couldn’t complete it.
DAY 44: 1 lucid dreamDAY 45: 1 lucid dreamDAY 46: 1 lucid dream
DAY 47: 1 lucid dream
DAY 48: 2 lucid dreams. WILD induced. It seems to me, that I’mbeginning to
naturally be able to WILD induce with this reality project. Itjust
happens, when I awake in the middle of the night, and then goback to
sleep.
DAY 49: 1 semi-lucid dream--------------------

DAY 50: 2 lucid dreams. 1 Semi-lucid dream.
DAY 51: no lucid dreams. Was at a party, and got only 6 hours of sleepthough.
DAY 52: 2 lucid dreams.DAY 53: 1 long lucid dream.DAY 54: 1 lucid dream.
DAY 55: 1 lucid dream

I intend to start a new project, where I’ll do, as I have described in top of this letter - that is: Waking at night, doing RC’s - continue to do them while falling asleep!

Thomas

Gjedde, that’s outstanding!! How long have you been LDing for in total now?

Yeah, i must agree, thats totally outstanding . You really are a LD ‘guru’, lol

Well, i can see that you put a lot of effort into it, i guess thats my problem… I don’t have enough self-discipline, or i try too hard when i try.
I’ll see if i can find more time for some WBTB-training, right now school is killing my dreaming though . (i have to get up at 6:30am).

Good that you have started posting at ld4all, you disappeared for some time on alt.dreams.lucid… I disappeared too though, prefered ld4all’s forum .

Yes - jeg er også fra DK .

ill get in trouble if i keep waking up with an alarm every coupla hours…i need a very simple …very easy…very short tequnique

Bullet-proof:

I started when I was 17.
But I have held many breaks since then.
Only in the last year, I have worked serious with it.

I’m now 23
