Hi the last week I have had my mind focused on LDing, about every half an hour of the day I do a reality check and non stop have Lucid Dreaming on my mind, I have tried WILDing before going to bed a few times and WILDing after WBTB and also FILD a few times, but as of today I have still not had a Lucid Dream. I want it so bad but can’t get it to happen .
Any experts out there or successful Lucid Dreamers could you please tell me how you induce a lucid dream, anything will help, but please don’t link me to a tutorial as I have already looked at most, I am looking for straight forward help from a Lucid Dreamer.
Thanks a lot and any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Well the guides are written by people that have successfully LDed and are probably experts. There are quite a few on the forums, I’m pretty sure you haven’t seen them all. Having a LD is usually not instant, it takes some time and practice (especially if your trying WILD) and some people have been trying for years to have one and still haven’t gotten one. Some people try much and the day that they give it a break they have an LD, so you might wanna try that if you think you have tried EVERYTHING.
Just remember that the best thing you can do is be persistent.
When I first began trying to have lucid dreams, I came at it from my usual perspective. Methodical. Inquisitive. I find this helped me more than most other things. I tested possibilities, questioned little details, and found the answer to them through my testing. If you truly want to have LD’s, I would say to adopt this to some extent. You have to question small details in order to learn from your attempts. Continue this immersion you find yourself in, and question things. Then, try and find the answers to them yourself. You might find yourself getting farther than you would’ve previously imagined.
They only other things I can say is continue to stay immersed in the thought of lucid dreaming, it helps much more than most other things. RC’s don’t work on a timed basis, remember this. They only work on a conditional basis, “once this happens, I’ll do an RC”. The most famous conditional RC is the “door” RC schedule. Once you pass under a door, do an RC. This helped me the most when trying to DILD through RC’s.
I also wouldn’t suggest getting hung up on WILD’ing unless you want to test certain aspects of it. WILD’ing is a complicated process that most people never end up accomplishing until they’ve at least had 1 lucid dream. I would say have a few, then if you want to try it, tackle it head on through tests.
At any rate, the last thing you would need is perseverance. Most of those who never accomplish it after years never truly immerse themselves or never truly try and comprehend the smaller details. I’ve never personally seen someone who’s done lucid living for years and never had a lucid dream. Remember this if you have a “dry spell”, or a lengthened period of no lucid/normal dreams.
One thing that could work well is that if you try to treat dreams as real life events, so that you sort of “remove” the line between waking and dreaming.
For example, try to make sense out of every dream (find natural explanations for as many oddities as possible), and think of them as a different state of reality.
Also it’s important that you frequently really question your surroundings.
Are you awake right now, for example?
Make sure to look for evidence that you really are awake, because dreams can actually be so realistic that they feel like waking reality.
I have had several dreams like that myself, when I think like “surely this is reality!” only to wake up in bed five seconds later.
Uhm…Could you explain what exactly you mean there? Maybe I understand it wrong, but I could definitely see something happen like, you are in a dream and recognize something odd but you fail to realize that you’re dreaming because you’re trying to find natural explanations for it…
I think what he means is that by looking for logical explanations, you’re also looking at these explanations and seeing if they make sense…
Instead of seeing yout broken tv and moving along, you might wonder “how did that get broken?” and then perhaps something like “oh, that’s right! the bear sat on it” but then, if you are successfully being logical and all you should think “wait… a bear? there are no bears in my country!” or something like that…
That’s how I understand it, though. Let’s see what he says
