I’ve been struggling with Newbie Wake-up Syndrom or NWS and I was wondering how the rest of the people here got over it. NWS has ruined 9 possible LD 's for me and I am sick of it. I’ve tried staying calm but I still wake up right after I tell myself I am dreaming.
I am also wondering if meditation will help get over NWS.
“NWS” is pretty hard to get over. Just keep going, once you’ve ruined enough LDs, you’ll start to automatically remain in them. Sorry there’s never been a proven method of reducing it at the start… meditation outside of dreaming can help, but don’t close your eyes in a lucid dream.
Oh yeah you can like autosuggest to yourself or something before you go to sleep
“I will stay in my lucid dreams”
“My lucid dreams are long and fulfilling”
but never state the problem or a negative in autosuggestion (that means you can’t mention waking up or the word “NOT”)
One example of what you cant do is
“I will NOT wake up” which will result in you actually waking up.
One exception to this rule (this is LEGAL) is
“I will wake up from my lucid dreams when I want to”.
good luck.
In relation to the pop-ups referred to in your signature, Mozilla Firefox, THE BROWSER RELOADED, or some google toolbar or other popup killer is nice
Well, I got over this by dropping back into the last LD I messed up (I just kept my eyes closed and thought about it for a couple of seconds).
Of coarse, it’s debatable whether I really woke up or had an FA, but whichever it was, it solved my NWS .
But whatever, it’ll go away by itself, but when you do manage to finally stay in one for more than a second, I’d say quickly stare at your hands or something, just to be sure .
As a matter of fact, I had 3 LDs last night alone and they were all messed up from this “NWS” or what ever it is.
I have been attempting to do an LD since April or May and everyone I had were messed up by “NWS” except for 4.
If I were to count all the dreams in which I knew I was dreaming only I woke up instantly then I’d have damn near 60 dreams. I only consider dreams lucid if I know I am dreaming and do not wake up the instant I realize I’m dreaming.
I found one way to get over this … its very simple. WILD
For me at least, when I have a WILD I am lucid from begining to end. I don’t even tell my self I’m dreaming because I know I am. I do RCs all the time but that’s just because it’s a habbit.
I think I don’t wake up from it because all the sounds I hear and the SP I get when attempting a WILD are far more alarming then the dream itself.
Hey thanks
I think my problem might be that I blink when I become lucid. I think I will practice keeping my eyes open when I am doing RC 's, I wonder if that will work.
I also wonder if Q could make it so that whenever anyone writes NWS it has the thing that explains it like LD or WBTB or MILD ?
