For as long as I can remember my dreams have always had three themes. The setting is always a forest, or a building in a forest. They have always been physically dark, like dusk or night. And they have always been dark, like killing, rape, mutilation, monsters, or/and paranoia.
Now of course there are always exceptions, sometimes a dream will start off nice, and have brilliant colors, and be in a sunset. Or sometimes end that way. But I have never gone say, a week with out a terrible, nightmare-type dream.
Thing is, they don’t scare me. They just feel like normal dreams. I guess what I’m wondering is, how common are these types of dreams? What is an average dream like for you?
I’m not a dream expert or anything but your dreams are made up of everything in your mind, so if you have a lot of fear inside you your dreams may represent this as for not scaring you its probably because you realise there only dreams and because they’re common for you it might not affect you as much.
If you don’t mind me asking how old are you ? I always had nightmares like proper nightmares I would wake up instantly my heart would be pounding I would be sweating, I used to get this a lot when I was quite young around 7 - 10 I know your probably not this young but if your like a teen/young adult there may be a lot for you worry or something and your dreams reflect this.
I’m sixteen, and I think you might be leaning twords the same thing I was suspecting. I was recently diagnosed with clinical depression, which most likely play a role in it. But here’s the other tricky thing, I’m almost always the one who’s the monster or the killer. Now I’m no serial killer in real life, hell I’m a Buddhist. I guess over time as the anti-depressants start working I’ll be able to tell if that’s what it was.
