I have been having a crap load of nightmares. Like every 1/4 of my dreams have been nightmares and I have not been scared of half of them. It gets really annoying since I have the dreams. Someone always gets hurt and I have a crap load of adrenaline rushing in my body. When I usually have nightmares I can usually force myself to wake but since I haven’t been scared of them I just have to sleep through it. Most of them are easy to remember since my recall is a lot better. As strange as it man seem: How can I become scared of my nightmares?!?!?!?11?!
Maybe if you watch lots of war films, or play enough Doom 3 or something your dreams could get that horrific/scary quality. Apart from questioning why you would want to have scary dreams, I really don’t think there’s much else to say.
why do you feel the need to force yourself to wake? can’t you use nightmare scenarios to become lucid then you can change the dream to anything you want
I have been playing Ghost Recon:AW but that isn’t scary and I just made my mind of joining the Army when I get older.
I’m trying
I was thinking just what Moog was thinking… Use the nightmares to become lucid and have fun!
Since you’re not scared of the nightmares, just sit back and ignore what’s happening. Teach yourself to do that so you can realize what’s going on and become lucid!
Lucky you… I want to have nightmares! I really miss them…
I think it’s been several years since last time I had a nightmare. I think I know something you can try:
When you lie in your bed, think what it would be like if you were dying. Think of everything that you would go through. It should be a long painful death. Then try to convince yourself that you are dying. Just keep thinking that way, and you’ll eventually fall asleep. I think you will have some fun results, it might even end up as an OOBE!
Surely if you dont find them scary, then they aren’t really nightmares, just gory dreams.
Oddly, I watch tons of that sort of thing (what Amused Himself to Death wrote) and I never have nighmares. Sometimes, I have dreams about things I find unpleasent, but I’m never scared of them.
try drudging up some really repressed emotions.
My advice to you is to try to go downwards. Get lucid, or incubate a dream, and descend into basements or caves. In dreams, low levels often contain old and almost forgotten memories. A basement can easily contain a childhood nightmare, a cave can hide old fears. You could also read certain H.P.Lovecraft stories before incubating the dream, for added effect, as his stories sometimes describe old and horrible underground civilisations.
