No Problem! -- A topic on problem solving via LD's.

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has used LD’s to solve some kind of problem and if so, post your stories here! This isn’t a pre-cog thing, this is about a problem you personally had and were able to resolve through a dream.

I thought of this the other day when I was reflecting back to when I was in Calculus. While I don’t remember the dream being a lucid one (I had never heard of LD-ing back then) it was incredibly vivid and of significant aid.

I began the Calculus course (in high school) with a goal to get the scholarship upon graduation. What drove me to this was the fact that anyone I mentioned taking Calculus to told me I should drop it, I would do so horribly, etc, so I set out to prove them wrong.

Up until about the 4th out of maybe 6 unit exams we’d taken, I got 94% on. One day I was out of town for an orthodontic appointment while the class wrote the 5th test without me. When I came back the next day (Friday) they were given an additional 30 minutes+ to finish it up whereas I was just beginning mine. I was moved into the hall to write it, and at the end of the class (which was my final for the day) I was at the beginning of the 7th question. I was stumped! The question was unlike any we’d ever seen or practiced before!

What we were doing was graphing functions without a calculator. Heh, I don’t even remember the terms anymore, but basically, there was A LOT of work to get the final graph, points, concavity, and so forth. I took my paper in and said I could stay another 5 minutes if he wanted for me to finish, but he said that since the class got an extra half hour, I could have some time on Monday. I gave him my paper and went home. On the bus I slapped myself for not writing down the final question or something so that I could practice it at home.

Enter the subconcious. Saturday night I had a dream with the test paper before me. The question was right there, and I knew it was the actual question. I began solving it using the steps we had learned in the class. Derive it, x’s, y’s, limits, concavities, points of inflexion, and so forth. Before the dream ended, I sketched the graph on paper. The shape of the graph was like this: imagine a horizontal line which curves down into a trough, then curves back up and smooths over. I immediately woke up and wrote everything that I had seen on the dream paper on a piece of paper beside me without even having to redo or think about the math. I ran upstairs and punched in the same equation I was given in the dream into my graphing calculator software and the exact graph that I had sketched in the dream was computed.

It was incredible!! I had never seen a graph like that in my life, yet in my dream I could draw it out, find all the necessary points, limit, and everything, and the computer matched the same!!! On Monday I finished the question during my spare before Calculus in a matter of minutes, handed it in, he corrected it, and in 6th handed me back the test with a big 9-5 on it, the record grade for any of my Calculus exams. To go even further, upon graduation I was awarded the Rotary Calculus Scholarship with a 94% average.

Dreams are so crazy, and it ceases to amaze me what kind of power they can really have!!!

Please feel free to post your experiences!

I don’t have any stories to tell, sorry, but I want to say that is a neat story! I enjoyed reading it.

When I read anecdotes like this it reminds me of the great potential of lucid dreams (or, in your case, normal dreams). I would certainly like to read more about people here using LDs for problem solving.

Wow that’s an amazing story Skidzz, well done

Wow, thanks guys! I thought the story might be too long and just bore everyone. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Anyone have stories similar? I’m very interested in reading them!

All I have is questionable pre-cogish stuff…

i was hung over (i hardly ever drink though), and skipped class on the day we were supposed to review for a test, so the next morning I FORCE A WILD like i’ve never forced one before… I mean, it was tough too, my dream tried to get me unlucid, but I managed to summon up my art teacher and ask her if we had the test today… she said we didn’t.

in real life when i got to class i asked her if we had the test today, and she said no, we didn’t, it was delayed… her answer was pretty much verbatim the way she said it to me in the dream.

Then I would use an occasional LD and many daytime/nightime mantras to try to win money from a casino, and when I was at the casino a slot caught my eye, despite being discouraged by my grandfather, and I said well, let’s play the rest of this card, I had like $5-10 on it… and first pull, 7 7 7 … won like $97 maybe ? I gambled most of the profits away though… no I won more than that, I think I had $300 on me somehow… but maybe some of it was just money I hadn’t spent yet.

anyway… that’s about it… i’m trying to use LD to help my institutionalized friend, but again, that falls into the supernatural, not limited to MY problems, per se.

i have not been able to use LD to eradicate my arachnophobia, unfortunately, but I have tried, and failed.

I’m not very smart in my LDs, I seem to have a mild case of memory loss when I’m in one, so I haven’t tried anything like that.

Maybe it’s that I don’t enjoy the moment when I’m lding. I just wonder around, I see that is a dream and see the differences from the real world. That’s why my dreams aren’t too vivid, I mees up everything. So right now I don’t think I can solve any problems in my dreams without any interruption from my conscious-skeptic self.

OK I’m a little frustrated as you can see, lol. But I have read your story, Skidzz, and it’s amazing, it reminds me how amazing dreams are and how they can help you, what they can be!
