Not sleeping for a day?

Would this affect any WILD or LD attempts?

because I did not go to bed last night and just waited it out right until tonight.

Just wondering if it would have any positive or negative effects ?
thanks :smile:

EDIT: REALLY tired by the way lol i’ve been struggling to stand upright all day XD

Well, it sure isn’t good for you! :sad:

And in terms of LD’s I’d guess it really depends. You can simply fall deep into a heavy sleep and not even remember your dreams, since you’re so tired. Or maybe only your body will fall asleep fast and you’ll WILD.

But it’s not something that should be done as a technique! :tongue:

Yeah XD you cant win when it comes to sleeping, its either wait it out and not have to get up in the morning or get up in the morning and feel like poo :razz:

I don’t do it often anyway I was just gonna experiment :smile:
I was hoping that if i concentrated enough my body would go straight to sleep but i would manage to keep my mind awake. I’ll try soon :smile:

EDIT: By the way folks i’m not reccomending anything, lack of sleep is hell. Seriously, its like drunk without the fun! its hard enough trying to type :razz:

lol i was planing on doing this this week too :happy: (since im on vacation)

But I was never really sure if I really should do it.

Please tell how it went :smile:

Sleep deprivation is really interesting, since it does multiple things:

  • It prepares the body to fall asleep faster, so that you’ll be able to WILD more effectively once you get back to bed;
  • It prolongs your sleep, with more REM --> more dreams;
  • It makes one notice how long a day (or more than one straight) can really be :tongue:
    But in general, if you don’t count you missed an entire night of dreaming, it has generaly positive effects on your next LD attempt, just don’t stay awake for more than 3 days :wink:

Well I have to say the results were better than expected, my WILD attempt went a lot faster than usual and I had the sensation of my bed being turned upside down.
No LD though :sad:

I did dream an awful lot though I can fully remember 5 dreams at least all from last night :smile:

However I did wake up kinda late :tongue: (4pm)

once i stayed awake for a few days (i think 4 or 5), pepping me up with concetrated coffeine. it didn’t affect LDing positively, actually i had no dream recall in the first nights i slept normally again.

edit: it’s for sure not good for your health so better don’t mess around with your sleep cycle too often but i think it has no really dangerous long-time follows and if you are lucky you get funny hallucinations^^

Yeah I don’t think anyone should do it at all really. I do it very rarely when i’m maybe watching a film or addicted to a game :razz:

Staying awake too long can actually kill you so be very careful!

Well, I held myself awake due to a Game I played this monday night and kept on to next day. Then I ate food and suudently felt tired :yawn: but I struggled to the evening and fell asleep at once. I didnt get more dreams than otherwise and I felt like living dead when I went to bathroom :sad:

My conclusion is that its possible to get easier WILD’s, but not recommended since you dont think clearly enough to do a WILD. Its most likely you fall asleep uncontrolled :tongue:

Yeah I’ve never had a succesful ld (WILD or MILD) when I’m running low on sleep. My dreams do get more vivid, but there’s no advantage to it.
