OBE...? can someone help me?

i am very, very new to the whole concept of lucid dreaming. A good friend of mine introduced it to me recently, and i looked around at some websites found many of them mentioned OBE…which really sparked my interest because of an xperience i had in the past.
A few years ago (i’m 20 now) i had a very intense and frightening experience that i now am coming to realize was most likely an OBE. Not knowing anything about any of this at the time, i was scared to death when it happened. I remember falling asleep and dreaming that i fell out of my bed onto the floor, but my body almost instantly bounced up off of the floor into an upright position and i began hovering around my room, very quickly. with my feet about 4 inches off of the ground. I hovered out of my room and was quickly moving all over the house. the house looked exactly the same as it does awake. every detail was right. i woke up suddenly from this to find myself frozen in bed, with this enormous uncomfortable force pushing down on my chest and me being unable to move any of my body except my neck. it didnt feel positive or comfortable in the slightest. i remembering turning to look at the alarm clock, turning back, and then looking at it again to try to grasp some sense of reality. it felt like i remained frozen in bed for quite some time, extremely afriad. i had no idea if i was asleep or awake. i dont know if i fell back asleep, or if i was never awake at all. but i was on the couch in the morning. Could the two experiences (me hovering around the house, being frozen in bed) been all part of one big nightmare? could i have been awake when i thought i was sleeping? could this have been an OBE? any help would be greatly appreciated. this was such a terrifying experience that has remanined with me for years and i’ve never known what it could have been. thank you!
and thanks for all this great information on your site.

It sounds like an OBE from where im sitting. The SP (not being able to move) when you woke up also suggests this.

Who knows, you might have some natural ability with OBEing, you should give it a shot  for more information about OOBEing read this book - its a definite classic.

At early stages of Obes or lds)or in the last moments of it )you can experience being paralized.Normal, usuall thing, nothing to worry about…even more…next time you feel it you will know thats how OBE can start so take it to your advantage.Remain calm, wait for the show to begin.
good luck.

Yeh… being paralysed often scares a lot of OBE beginners, and it is perfectly understandable why it may be a frightening experience.

Even after so many OOBE’s, and AP’s, it still sometimes happens to me, it happened yesturday in fact.

Its really a shit feeling…because you cannot move and your thinking “omg im stuck…im like…stuck…” lol

Best thing to do if that happens again is to stay as relaxed as possible, don’t let it worry you, if your really getting scared just ask for God to help you, He will listen,

As for flying around your house, yes thats a comon thing to do after we project out of our body. Yours sounds more like an AP (Astral Projection), which is really similar to an OOBE anyway.

Hi Kikakid ! Welcome to the forum ! :cheer:

No doubt, you experienced an OBE ! After that, you experienced what is called sleep paralysis… good beginning, indeed !

Sleep paralysis is absolutely normal, though it can be frightening in the beginning. A lot of dreamers, practising OBE, astral projecting or WILD (however you call it) are familiar with this state.

When people sleep in REM sleep, the body is paralyzed in order to prevent acting dreams. Generally, you’re dreaming and not conscious of your body during this state. But if you mind is conscious, you find yourself stuck and some sensations are not particularly comfortable : you can feel cold, as your body temperature has fallen during sleep, your chest seems to be crushed (that’s the famous “Old Hag” syndrom) and sometimes you’re subject to visual or auditive hallucinations (as you’re in an intermediate state between wake and dream).

The best in this state is not trying to make sudden moves. You can try to move slightly your fingers and toes first, then your forearms, etc. like when you go out from a deep relaxation. Another good trick is to sleep again.

Oops, and what is the difference between OOBE and AP? I used to think, that it’s pretty much the same or, maybe, kind of an encompassing designation for NDE, AP and other types of projection (etheric and so on)… :eh:

According to astral projecters, OOBE is a kind of AP, which takes place in the astral plane zone the nearest to physical plane.

At first I thought, that any experience you have where you split your concsiousness to outside your physical body, is an OBE,

but after some reading , Basilus West is correct, that it is said it is when you exit and just hover just above your body.

But hey, its only wording,… I dont go by that too much…
