I have been very confused about OBE’s, what exactly are they? So what I am thinking right now is also stated in this article. OBE’s usually happen when one has been awake and conscious and then falls directly into SP. Next feeling is leaving one’s body. Whereas in a LD the environment is clearly imagined and one knowns for sure it is a dream while conscious during the dream, OBE’s seem to take place there where your physical body lies and you aren’t sure if it is a dream though being fully conscious during the experience. The article explains that the mind, after waking up, expects to be there where the physical body is in contraty to LD’s where the mind isn’t fully aware of the physical body and the room it is in.
So actually an OBE is somewhat the same as a LD.
I am very curious now what will happen if you are having an OBE and walked out the door? Can your mind be manipulated enough to convince it that there is a different world on the other side and not what you expect at first, like a hallway? It would be nice to walk into a LD.
Like I wrote on here before, I’ve had quite some OBE’s while staying in bed. Sometimes I start to see a lucid dream coming up but I never seem to hold on to it. This morning I managed to have three OBE’s and walked around my room.
Next thing to try out: stepping through a door convincing my mind there is another world on the other side.
I have heard on numerous occasions about transitioning from an OBE to an LD by jumping out the window / going through the door. I’d be sure to RC first before attempting the window plunge. Two days ago I had an OBE which I hastily tried to turn into an LD by going through the window (because I did an RC - I usually associate those with LDs). It failed. I should have given it time, hovered about my room for a bit. Good luck, friend.
I’ve done the same before. I’ve had an OBE or thought I did, and went outside my house and into my street, and ended up in a dream (unfortunately an NLD though). So yes, I say it’s possible. I guess setting an intention to go into a dream would help? Basically what aQuiche said, I guess.
Although this morning I had a big fail… I thought I was having an OBE so I walked out my door but unfortunately I walked into my hallway. I began screaming because I thought that no one could really hear me because I was having an OBE then suddenly this man I know came into the hallway asking me why the hell I’m screaming so much. I felt embarrassed and went back to bed. Haha I thought it was real… so stupid, that man doesn’t even live here…
How lovely, would have been insanely cool if it WERE real :L:L:L:L Gutsy decision on your part! I’d RC next time, and if it works, nothing is to stop you from going all out!
Argh, just did it again! I had something between an obeling and an LD, and again I rushed to get out! Well, now I know what to do… well what NOT to do.
I used to suffer from SP, where I would be aware that my body couldn’t move because it was asleep, but unaware that I was still dreaming a little. I read that being able to initiate an OBE from this state, can turn it into an LD (because hardly anyone expects to split into two bodies, isn’t that a dream sign enough even if the bedroom still looks a perfect duplicate to every detail?) Since some of my OBE’s turned into LD’s, cued by some differences in the sensations like having a ‘solid’ other body when most OBE’s start me off as a floaty presence, so I’d say it works. What’s similar, but I’ve found far more difficult, is getting LD’s from FA’s.
@EllyEve I beg to differ on FA’s being more difficult. I can’t seem to WILD to the point to have an OBE so I believe FA’s are more efficient for me because they have actually happened 3 times in one night to me!!!
