On the path of Lucidity ?

Hello !

I was wondering if you could tell me if my recent dreams mean that I am on my way to my first lucid dream ? All about what I am talking happened in dreams.

  1. So first sign : I dreamt 2 times about my old house, where I lived before I moved, and in which I had lots of memories of all sorts.

  2. I this dream, I heard my iPhone alarm (which ringtone is called “Alarm”, that makes the sound of a real alarm, like in movies when people are getting hit by planes or bombs), well I heard my iPhone alarm IN THE DREAM and so this woke me up, it was the same alarm in real life. Maybe it was a coincidence, because in my dream I was being chased by hooded men , because I had escaped, so they sounded an alarm ?

  3. I was talking to a friend about Lucid Dreaming, (in a dream), and that I had started trying to LD, and I was explaining him the basic things to do. However, I wasn’t lucid, but I was just talking to him about Lucid Dreams.

  4. In another dream, I was about to sleep (in the dream), and a random girl came up to me, kissed me, and then I told her I was going to try to lucid dream (I was dreaming myself in Real Life). So again I told someone I was trying to LD, like in Dream 3).

I wasn’t Lucid in all of these dreams, but I was asking myself if they were some sign maybe that I would soon be lucid.

Another little question : is it alright to do RC’s like every hour, in a natural way, and do extra RC’s if you see something weird that looks like you’re dreaming ?
And in the RC’s, this is what I do (is it ok ?) :

-I ask myself “Am I dreaming ?”.
-I try to see the real world like the dream world, I basically imagine that the real world is a dream world.
-Then when I’m not sure if I’m dreaming or if I’m in the real life (even if I AM in the Real Life), then I do my 3 reality checks.
-1st RC : I feel as if I can breathe by the nose even when I block it with my hand. Then I say to myself "If I am NOT dreaming then I WON’T be able to breathe with my fingers keeping my nose closed. I then breathe, and of course it doesn’t work because it is real life.
-2nd RC : I check the time. Then I look away. I say to myself "If the time has NOT changed, then I’m NOT dreaming. The time doesn’t change of course, because it’s real life. After this I tell myself “I am in Real life then”.
-3rd RC : I look at my hand. I say to myself "If it is blurry and I CAN’T count the fingers then I’m NOT dreaming. It doesn’t work neither as I can count my fingers.

Thank you for telling me if my Reality Checks (RC) are done the right way and if I am on the route to lucidity !

P.S : It’s been 1 week I’ve been keeping my DJ and 1 week I have tried LD, in vain for now, but I am confident and motivated ! :content:

The RC are done perfectly (at least i do it always like that and it works :content: ), but i think doing 3 RC is a bit useless, since the nose RC is almost guaranteed to work
however if you are used to do them all 3, keep doing them

i can’t really tell you exactly what the dreams mean (even if i’m sure you’re on the right track), but if you train yourself to do a RC every time you think or talk about Lucid Dreaming it can be useful

keep going, it’s normal to need a month or more (but you could obviously have your first LD today :content: )

EDIT: i just saw your profile, you’re only 4 days older than me  (i know, useless comment ^^")

Thank you very much for your answer. :content:
I’m glad I do the RC’s correctly.
Thanks for the advice on doing RC’s when thinking about Lucid Dreaming ! ^^
I’ll keep doing 3 RC’s as i’ve got the habit, so it will be easier
I’ll hope I have an LD tonight !

That’s cool we’re the same age (for 4 days ^^), I’m glad to have met someone my age and really nice on this website ! :content:

I wouldn’t be as confident. I am used to doing only the nose RC and although it hardly ever misleads me, I have failed with it recently three times. Now I know I made a mistake and need to include the second one to my routine.

OP: keep it up. You really are doing it well!

Thanks DreamDiver !

Regards to how many RCs to do. It’s fine to RC every hour, but it shouldn’t be that you have to rely on checking the time to see if its the next hour to do a reality check. I would say its best to develop a habit of just doing these checks randomly throughout the day even if there’s nothing strange with your situation, just stop and wonder randomly throughout the day if you’re actually dreaming or not. And obviously continue to RC when you run into strange occurrences  . But it’s perfectly fine to RC every hour and even more, as long as you’re not doing RCs just because its the next hour.

But it seems you’re doing quite well, having lucid dreaming topics pop up in your dreams is a good sign. Maybe you should remember to RC whenever you’re discussing LD stuff to other people. I also agree with the first comment, 3 RCs are a bit much, but having 1 isn’t always reliable as well. 2 RCs sound good, a main one and a back up one. But ultimately it’s your choice, if 3 works best with you then keep it up!

Good luck with your quest to lucidity!

Thank you Starry ! :content:
I’m going to stay on 2 RC’s, and do them randomly + whenever I see a strange thing.
I hope I’ll LD soon ! :content:

Thanks !
