One Project at a Time (flying)

moved from lucid lab to the lucid adventures forum. :dream:
since this is about perfecting being able to achieve lucid tasks, it fits better into the adventures forum. :moogle: (added flying to the title)

Okay, so I’ve been participating in this forum for around half a year, and I’ve actually managed five or six LD’s, two of which were very long and detailed. I seem to go through spurts where I have a couple in about a week, and then nothing for about a month or so.

Anyway, I’ve noticed I have a bad habit of coming up with some task, like summoning a DC or incubating a beach dream, but I move on to something else before I accomplish it. So, as a personal experiment, I am going to focus on something I have already done in a dream, the staple of the lucid community - flying. I will read about flying and look at pictures about flying. I might even watch part of Hancock while using WBTB. I want to perfect this since I already have done variations of flying in a few previous lucids (mostly hovering, though). Any tips from other flyers will be helpful. I will post once or twice a week with progress.

I have reality check that has actually worked for me. I draw a star on my left palm and look at it throughout the day. Each time I try to change something about it - the color, the size, try to make it spin. One time, it worked, and I instantly became lucid.

I have decided to write my goal under it. Right now I have the word FLY written under the star. I look at it all the time - it’s an old habit of mine to write important notes on my hand (phone numbers and such). Maybe I’ve seen Memento too many times, I don’t know. Anyway, I’m hoping this will help.

if you arent very confident with flying yet and can only hover, try to kinda swim off the ground then when you get a few feet up give yourself a big push with the last stroke then just keep accelerating without swimming

once you do go lucid again and you this you should go straight up as far and fast as you can until you get to space or another planet, its pretty cool to see what your imagination will create

I have always wanted to do the space thing. My sleep schedule is all screwy from the pre-Christmas weekend, so I had no luck this past weekend. Two hours of sleep is simply not enough! I think I should maybe find a way to associate the holidays with lucidity, so my Christmas dreams will be lucid ones . . .

thats a good idea with writing something on your hand. (i always wrote myself notes to make sure i dont forget) only problem is that my mom will ask about it and she understands LDing and all but still… she just doesnt get my enthusiasm. although i do know how to make her leave, i just start talking like its really complicated and about something she doesnt care about and she just says OK or never mind or i wish i didnt ask…
