Opposition: Has anyone experienced active opposition to lucid dreaming? As example: I have experienced at least two individuals that claimed to be really upset by the idea that I might be paying nocturnal visits. One actually claimed to have cast protection spells about the living space, just in case. Please, tell me this is not the norm …
Do you mean opposition from waking life people, or dream characters?
If you mean waking life people, then I think it’s fair to say that some people can feel quite uncomfortable with the idea that you might be visiting them without their consent.
Think about how you would feel in their shoes. They perhaps can’t LD and they have no idea of knowing when you are visiting and what you are going to do. It could trigger nightmares for them.
If you want to visit waking life people, perhaps get to know someone here in the forums who can LD as proficiently as you and do a ‘deal’ with them!
I have never encountered anything like this. Do you usually talk about dreams with these people? Is sounds almost like they have a religious belief that involves visiting spirits or astral travel? I admit that I am rather unfamiliar with those concepts. Most people around where I live believe that dreams happen inside our heads, and that nothing that happens inside a dream can influence anything apart from the person who dreams it.
On the few occasions that I have heard negative opinions about lucid dreaming, it has been worries about getting enough real rest at night. Some people think that unconscious sleep is needed in order to give the brain enough rest. I don’t agree with that, on the contrary, I feel very refreshed after a lucid dream!
Could these people be confusing the concept of lucid dreaming with astral projection, OOBE?
