out of body experiences and achieving them

forgive me if there is a topic out there already about this but i could not find one so ill post it anyways.

i recently became interested in OBE’s and i have seen and heard about all of the stuff thats supposed to happen while experiencing one. but i am still not clear on how to go about achieving one. like are there methods like with lucid dreaming? certain routines i can follow or anything of that nature? if anyone knows please fill me in because i would love to attempt to have one tonight!!!

The technique that I use is classed as a WILD, I think… it’s basic “void” meditation, waiting until all your thoughts trickle into nothingness. Because this kind of meditation allows you to lose sense of space, to follow it up by shifting your sense of location should be easy. Some advise you do this by “listening” into the darkness-- not listening for anything, just listening. I do this by feeling the absence of anything but air against by face, and being conscious of the layer of air beyond that layer of air that is touching my face. I just move my sense of location forward like that, and hold it about half a foot beyond myself – for as long as I can, as effortlessly as I can.

When I “drop off” to sleep, or switch consciousness, with a perfect balance and maintenance of this void mind-state, I usually feel a violent thudding and find myself lying prone and surfing the air above my bed. Sight tunes in naturally. Then, you’re free. I took about 3 years of practice to get this, the first few weeks to get the discursive thought to quiet on cue, and the rest (I believe) because I didn’t really “get” what listening out into the void was supposed to do.

Hope this helps!

Nice one! :content:

If you are serious about OBEs, you should read Robert Monroes books.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Monroe

haha thats funny bbecause i stumbled upon robert monroe yesterday whil researching OBE’s. and that description was great elly! i thought i was close to one yesterday actually or maybe i was hallucinating. wwhen i went to bed yesterday i closed my eyes and sorta focused on nothing. i felt these strong vibrations son after but it freaked me out and i opened my eyes. then i closed them again and must have drifted off. but the weird thing was i woke up shortly after that because it felt like i fell out of my bed but wen i opened my eyes i was still in the middle of it! any thoughts on this???

Check the article about OBE too  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_Body_Experience

I have had 5 OBE’s and 1 NDE. One OBE I know I was was when I controlled another body for 5 minutes :lmao:

Well, the only real way to tell if you’re close to an OBE is… to take the experience further than what you think might be “close” and see what happens

Robert Monroe’s awesome! I’d also recommend Robert Peterson, very straighforward (and the info in the link’s set up for free!) but Robert Bruce seems to jump to quite a few conclusions or maybe I just can’t relate to all his experiences. (What’s with all the astral projecting Roberts?)

Ye, it is weird, the Roberts thing
Anyways,
Robert Peterson’s book is also nice and recommended and maybe a good one to start with although Monroe’s books are more thorough. You can get Monroe’s books for free on the net. Robert Bruce (Astral Dynamics) is more into Astral Projections and his book is kinda the bible of APs.

Ghostie
What do you mean by NDE?
Can you please explain about this experience?

My NDE :eh: Just an ordinary NDE.

I dont want to tell the reason, but I was pushed out of my real body, the real world was at the end of a tunnel far away. In this stage you cant go to the end of that tunnel, how much you want. 5 minutes later I could go back, releived that I didnt go to the other side :puh:

I’ve never really had a NDE, and hope to never have one. But, I’ve seen people and know people who have had NDE’s…

hey again. im starting to get frustrated! so last night i tried elly’s advice and as i relaxed i could feel myself slipping into SP. like there was a weight being laid upon me and i even tried to move and couldnt. so i figured i was on the right track. i even started feeling theair hit my face and everything. but it seemed like nothing would happen past this point. i waited and waited and nothing happened. i finally was uncomfortable from laying on my back so i opened my eyes and slowly i could move again. i looked at the clock and 3 hours had gone by! so i really dont know what i did wrong or didnt do or whaqt i should have done but i could just not slp into an altered consciousness. any advice??? :eh:

I would suggest letting yourself relax deeper, with each exhale feel yourself sink… also, your projection or OBE isn’t going to induce itself, dont wait for it, reach for it. You are at a period of a trance state or “inner projection,” your next step is to project your body outward. There are many ways to do this, but what works for me best is to sink deeper and deeper into relaxation and trance, until i usually feel a sensation of floating or being lighter than usual… which starts at my feet then goes up most of the time. This is the hard part, getting yourself to focus without losing your trance state, takes a lot of practice (ive been practicing for a while and am still rarely successful). You have to sort of just “let go” and just go with it… the hard part is finding the line between conscious observation and your subconscious experience.

SOme really great advice here. I have been trying to achieve one for a while now.
My fear is keeping me back though.

Fears are the only thing keeping us back.
Lose your fear and control your life.

3 hours is an awful lot of time daydream.
What you need to do is relax, clear your head of the chatter and pointless thoughts and just let it happen.

sigh SO much easier said than done.

Though thank you fo the support!!!

“Lose your fear and control your life” Is that a quote by anyone? I really like that, very smart!

I will keep trying!!!

It’s a quote by me ^^
glad to inspire you
