"Phasing out" works like HI?

I’m not sure if anyone will be able to answer this question since only I can see what’s going on in my head, but others may have something similar. If not, this could sound really bizarre

During the day when I’m writing/drawing I imagine whatever it is I’m working on as if it’s in movie form. Very rarely do I have to ask “What should happen next?” Instead, the story just seems to take off on it’s own once I plant that initial seed. It’s like an on/off switch for the imagination where I flip it on and just record what happens. I can rewind what I’m imagining and have it play out differently, but I can’t guide how it plays out at all.

I call it “phasing out” because when I do it my conscious awareness of my surroundings deafens. It’s as if I’m aware of what’s going on around me, but none of it registers. The eyesight goes fuzzy, motor skills are halted, my ability for processing and responding to speech ceases, etc, yet I’m fully conscious the entire time, and can flip it off at will. Like if someone was to say something to me I’d have to pop out of it in order to form an answer. I think it’s probably some kind of trance… but if so it beats me how I learned it .

Always when I do this during the day it’s occuring in my mind’s eye, and never do the sounds or sights seem real.

However, very often at night when I’m laying in bed thinking about something to do with my story, it’s as if I get sucked into a dream with it. It will start out like the day (in the mind’s eye) but if I continue at it I begin to be able to see everything as if I’m looking at it with my actual eyes. Sounds become more realistic.

Same as during the day I’m aware it’s not real, but beyond the initial seed I can’t interact or influence anything that’s going on during this more intense phasing out. It plays out on it’s own. Unlike during the day, I can’t even rewind to let it play out differently.

You know the feeling you get when you’re shocked out of that falling feeling just before you would have slipped into sleep? That disorienting jolt? I get the same kind of feeling here when I pop out of the trancei[/i] when in bed, except it’s nowhere near as strong as the falling feeling. It’s just a slight jolt. I’m curious, does this sound like HI at all? Or is it more likely some kind of trance unrelated to sleep? I’ve never fallen asleep when phased out, I’ve always popped out of it first. It doesn’t happen during the REM mode, just whenever I flip it on in bed and let it run for a while without interruption.

This is, exactly, HI and other forms of HH.

The nearest I can think of is a day dream where you are fully immersed in it. I suppose you could call that a type of trance.

Reading the description of daydreaming I’d say that’s pretty darn close. I guess I’ve got an intense overactive imagination that takes over when I let it loose :peek: Beneficial for my art/stories, but disappointing in that it wont help me LD.

Hmm… but it’s never frightening. I don’t come out of it afraid or feeling anxious  I feel totally normal, aside from thinking certain parts of it were pretty cool, and that I’d better write them down.
