Hmmm, intresting experience. I found out that if I sleep on firmer (not feather) pillows I have a lot better dream recall. Intresting…
very interesting. though this belongs in the “Shortcuts to Lucidity” forum. I’ll try it tonight, thanks for the tip
Could this be because you are uncomfortable and thus making you go into a lighter sleep, increasing dream recall?
Smart theory. Darn. Doesn’t work for me.
Yeah me neither.
I sleep on mushy pillows I don’t like the hard ones. shrug Maybe I’ll try it anyways…
I dont even use pillows at all never did…my doc said as a kid i may not have pillows (cystic fybrosis) and now i am so used to it lol i dont want pillows anyway
it was somwhere between other posts that stuffing your pillow with oridinary Salvia leaves helps to increase your recall.Didnt work for me but you guys can give it a go and see:)
Also theres a thread called Dream Pillow whereyou can see a recipe for a mix of different herbs working for your recall too.
good luck:)
About pillows and stuff to put in it:
Putting artemisia vulgaris (mugwort, a very very common plant almost everywehre!) in your pillow, is said to give you much better dream recall, and also a increased chance on LD’s. This plant has been used by witches for a long time (nothing to be afraid of though). I have tried it once, and it gave me a night full of very vivid dreams! (not often enough though to prevent placebo effects of course ) Just put it in your pillow, or somewhere near your head when sleeping.
Much easier than using the real hallucinogens like Salvia D!
This is what she looks like:

Jeff, I don’t see how sleeping without a pillow could be comfortable, but I guess whatever you prefer . JJJ do you know the scientific reason for why stuffing your pillow with artemisia vulgaris improves your dream recall, or gives you more vivid dreams ?
Oh yeah thanks JJJ i almost forgot…i want to make a coffee powder pillow lol…set alarm at 5 in morning then get that pillow…earlier you wont sleep deep from that smell and see what happens!
Btw JJJ my name at the dutch forum is koffie!
Mmm coffee powder pillow experiment lol
Bullet-proof it is comfortable (no pillow) lol i like it
Jeff
Heh, actually some nights I just get tired of my pillow It becomes a bother and I just shove it to the side and sleep without one. It’s not that bad, really.

Possibly because you wake up faster, or slightly more suddenly, due to a)the surprise of sleeping on the floor or whereever you’re sleeping and b) the hardness of the floor (or whatever). I don’t know. I’d try it, but my parents (who accept my obsession with dreams on the whole) would think that sleeping on the floor is going too far. So I won’t. I used to do this if I couldn’t sleep. I’m not sure why though.
Umm, I can’t see why you can’t have pillows because of cystic fybrosis? Maybe I see what you mean though… if I have troubles breathing I sometimes either lay really flat on side without pillows or even lay on the floor.
Lol! That reminds me of like few years ago when I had problems with my back, I slept on the floor all the time. My mom was getting worried about me. I even slept without pillow. She finally bought me an expensive FIRM bed with FIRM pillow. Now it works just fine. Now, I’m running in same troubles because I’m living at an apartment right now and the mattress is not firm enough. My neck went out of hay because of that. Also I have troubles breathing because of it. Not serious enough to lay on the floor like I did yet though.
When I lay on the floor, it seems to give me more OBE’s or bizarre experiences.
Right now I usually like to sleep with two pillows. One for head and one for my legs (to maintain straight for back) on my left side, but I’m starting to find myself getting rid of TWO pillows during nighttime. I’d like, “Screw it, I’m too tired to get it back. I’m going to sleep without it.” Hehehe.
A lot of the time, I’ll wake up in the middle of the night with my neck in pain because my pillow is pushing it up. I just shove my pillows aside and go to bed. Luckily, by bed is very comfortable so sleeping without a pillow isn’t really a hassle.
