okay, so sometimes I can’t always tell if I hear sounds in my dreams, but I’m curious as to whether you can cue music in an LD, and hear it plain as day.
so for those of you have heard music in your dreams (LD or ND), does it sound clear?
I’m going to try this one for myself next time I go lucid.
Yup, you can cue it, and it is also cued sometimes in my non-lucid dreams. It can be so beautiful, you cannot believe you are actually hearing such music…
Or it could be like the times you go and see a garage band, and they suck so badly, that it gets uncomfortable just to be there.
Indeed you should. it varies, depending on the situation, the setting, your feelings…
You may hear very surreal music, music you may not believe could ever be reproduced in any way.
You may hear classical music, beautiful, beautiful classical music. I was once stunned after having a FA, that an entire album of classical music had come from me.
You may hear ominous music, that has particular energies to it, music that is alive, that talks to you, reacts to you.
Yup, within the dream world, music is a free and ever-changing spirit.
Oh so true. So many times, I have been having a perfectly fine normal dream, and it will be pleasant, no problems whatsoever. Then ominous music will begin to play, and ONLY because of that music, something bad will come about. It has gotten to the point where I actually shout “Oh COME on!” When it happens.
I love when I hear music in my dreams, usually that is a techno or trance music, but still… My best experience was in a LD were I was under water, swimming and breathing and then music starts to play… It was perfectly loud, just like I love it… Just great experience…
you guys made me think. now i don’t think i recall even once hearing music in my dreams O_o that’s really weird. if i get a LD (ever again ) i’ll have to try this music thing.
although i remember that when i was small, i wrote a 12 verse poem-musical about cats and sung it in a dream xD weirdly, i remembered at least 3 verses when i woke up, but they went away too fast for me to write them down i was sad about that, i still am
music, i vaguley remember music my dreams…i think i heard feel good inc. in one of my nightmares before. it almost made the scene scarier, somehow. lol
I hear a lot of music in my dreams. I’ve played music in my dreams. This morning I had a dream about playing a stuffed guitar. I tried to play Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing but the frets were playing wrong notes. I think music dreams are common to me because I am involved with music in WL.
I also have some problem with sound in dreams it’s not one of the things i remember when i wake up, I might remember what people say but not the sounds i hear, I also listen to my mp3 player ALOT in real life but I’ve never used it once in a dream and i want to know what it would sound like.
Yeah, you probably have a predisposition for hearing a music in dreams, I do not play instruments and I do not create music but music is part of me, but be directly involved in music must be even better!
because i’ve been trying to LD for a week and it’s devastating, now i’ve got some kind of lack of sleep too cause of waking up multiple times and getting all disappointed, and it’s not working out -.-
JayHaze - interesting stuff about hearing music more in your dreams when you play/create it in WL… i might not hear it much because i only listen to it in real life, i have absolutely no talent for playing it
maybe the absence of music in my dreams is why it’s so hard to realize i’m dreaming some of the time. you know how movies have a soundtrack, but life doesn’t. i guess for the ones like you who said you have [background] music in dreams like Dazino (if i got that right) it feels more like an adventure or movie-like experience, hehe. for me it’s like just plain life xD if i get a LD before i forget this, i should try some music in my dreams… wonder how that would feel.
I suggest you stop using WBTB then. It tried it twice and got one LD the first time and then decided it wasn’t a technique for me. If LD’s overall are getting frustrating you can take a break from them as well. I tried to have an LD for a week, then stopped for a month, then tried again to finally get my first LD.
Also, being pessimistic seems to greatly reduce your chances to have an LD. It’s kinda like religion… you must believe for it to work. Any doubt reduces the changes to succeed.
hehe, the funny thing is that i am not using WBTB it’s bad for me too, since i have headaches afterwards, and also - if i spend a half an hour ‘sane’, i will just not go back to sleep. no, i actually wake up ‘just cause’. i don’t set alarms, i don’t even tell myself to wake up. i’ve just started waking up after i started trying to LD (this last week at least). i don’t know why i wake up
i’m thinking of taking a break, but it’s not that easy. for starters, i’ve done this every time after a while, for maybe 3 times, with months in between. it has not moved me one step forward. also, it’s somehow sad losing all the ‘work’ i have put in - like the RCs are just setting in as a habit. if i drop them, then… i would have done all this in vain… i don’t know. but whenever i do a RC, i feel sad that’s also bad, isn’t it?
also, i try to believe… but somehow the more i try to believe, the worse i’ll feel the next morning maybe i should really take a break.
guys, i’m sorry about this post, it’s not actually connected with the topic!
I play in an orchestra in real life, so I frequently have dreams of playing music. It is always absolutely beautiful, impossibly good, very clear and can be cued whenever I want in a lucid dream.
I had quite and amazing ND not too long ago. A couple of friends of mine had a very popular band and they asked me to join them for a song. We played a punk rock song and I then jammed through it classic rock Mark Knopfler style kinda thing (I actually can’t play like that IRL but eh… . It actually sounded amazing, and the great music directly into my head along with the huge audience (there were like 30.000 fans) made it unforgettable. I actually remembered how to play the song but when I tried it in the morning it sounded like shit
I hear classical music most of the time and sometimes I hear pop music.
Few weeks ago I heard a song play and the lyrics were all there and I was thinking about how I didn’t even know the lyrics in real life yet here they were all clear and complete. Afterwards I tried to explain it to my roommate but he didn’t understand…
