Possible Holy grail Technique part II

Wow it worked!!

I had my first DILD (non-induced) 3 weeks ago and since then have been attempting to induce a lucid dream with no results. I have, however, increased my dream recall from 1-3 dreams/week to 3-6 dreams/night. Last night I played this on repeat on my walkman and had my first induced LD! Thanks to whoever posted this topic!

Also, I will fiddle around with this myself but I was wondering if I should be concentrating on listening to the recording or leave it in the background and focus on WILD/MILD? Thanks again!!

[edit]ARRRG! What am I doing wrong with the quote thing??? … nevermind… figured it out… BBCode needs to be enabled[/edit]
I haven’t tried headphones … or the method you guys are talking about yet, but I was surprised and somewhat annoyed the I had removed my NovaDreamer sometime during the night, and had absolutely no recollection of doing so.
I think this phenomenon is significant… Being able to be, during the night, conscious of what we are doing and keeping a memory of it are key needs for effective lucidity. I guess the removing of headphones or goggles is basically a RL non-lucid awakening.

ugh…

i put on the laberge interview with 90 minutes of silence and then put a few instances of the interview.

Well, i had a horrible horrible nightmare! Not trying this again for a WHILE!.

That’s bizarre, but I wouldn’t blame the interview. If you don’t think it could help you, fair enough, but I’d recommend trying it again just to be sure.

were can i get the edited version?

You can create it yourself.

Just use your favourite mp3 to wav converter (I use winamp’s write to disk function) to convert the mp3 into a wav.

Then edit it using something like cooledit and add the appropriate amount of silence (I use 1 hour).

Then save the wav and convert it into another mp3 using an mp3 converter.

For those of you who can’t fall asleep with it on, try Pedro’s V.I.L.D. method, as in, try to read as much as you can before falling asleep. Until your eyes are hard to keep open.

I have tried combining this interviews playing method with another method and it worked the first time. I set my four interviews to random loop play all night on my computer (10 feet away). To cut down the irritation I use an Applescript loop to fade the volume of the Macintosh computer up and down in a stair step triangle wave that has a wave length of one minute. Now here is the new extra part. As I lay in bed waiting to fall asleep, I hold a flashlight in one hand. It is a flashlight that has a signal button. Every now and then if I notice the volume of the interviews from the computer change, it is a reminder to me to check the flashlight to see if it works. I have noticed the volume change from the computer so I open my eyes and I point my flashlight at the ceiling and press the signal button 3 times quickly. If the flashlight works and produces light then I know I am not dreaming yet. So I close my eyes and let my mind wander and drift until the next time I notice the volume from the computer changing, then I open my eyes and test the flashlight with 3 quick presses again. Eventually I fall asleep but I keep checking the flashlight anyway. At some point I will check the flashlight but I will really only be dreaming that I’m waiting to fall asleep and so I am really only dreaming that I’m checking a flashlight. So this time the flashlight doesn’t work and produces no light. Because I’ve been waiting for this, I now know I’m dreaming and I get out of bed and start exploring the dream looking for art. This worked perfectly two nights ago. I’m waiting a few days before I try it again because of the irritating nature of the interviews so I need the sleep. I only like to try using this method when I need to end a dry spell.

Hey, I am using a music editing/mixing program called Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 3.0 to take the thunder out of the LaBerge interview, and I will post it at a website for you all to download…if you want.

This flashlight thing seems promising… Hmm… perhaps I’ll give it a try, using a torch.

Could you maybe insert some feature that makes the interview start after like 15 minutes or so? Would make it a lot easier to go to sleep while playing!

epic

the flashlight idea is utter bloody genius…seems like it should only be attempted with the WBTB methd, so that you can enter directly into your rem state.

i have the liqiud dreams thing (for some reason this fiel which is supposed to be ‘free’ only has three days left before i have to buy it :eh: ) and it has this interactive character named merlin on it. you can program him to tell you to do reality checks at certain intervals. im going to set him for a 15 min interval and im going to program him to tell me to pinch my nose and try to breath through it.

i am considering doing this in cunjuction with this so called ‘holy grail method’ you ppl have been rambling about…but i am wondering if it will be too much.
btw, at the suggestion of someone on a diff site, i am sleeping on the floor tonight instead of in my bed as usual.

hoping for my fisrt ld tonight…wish me luck…god knows i need some of that.

I could do that. I havnt gotten around to it yet because the laberge interview didnt help me at all and I’m also really lazy.

That is the easiest thing to do. Just play the mp3 with winamp and write to a wav file. Then open the WAV file in Cooledit or something else and insert the number of minutes of silence you like… Save and re-encode to an mp3.

i tried listening to the interview with WBTB last night, and although i didn’t become lucid, i dreamed of attending dr. laberge’s dreaming conference in hawaii, heh. i might give it another shot tonight, because at least i know it came into my dreams, even if my dream self didn’t get the cue this time.

That’s really the problem is getting yourself to recognize the cues. Keep practicing with it. Once you get to the point where you can recognize the cues that the interview gives you it might also help you to recognize your own natural cues more easily as well.

hmm…and i suppose the way i would go about remembering to recognise the cues would all be to do with focusing intent/repetition of a mantra…?

BUMP

I thought I might try this tonight just because I haven’t tried it before :content: And Epic Dewfall that’s a great idea keep on testing if you are sleeping or not

I was thinking that it might be more easy to WILD for me if I’m listening to the interview while trying to fall asleep because I usually fall asleep very fast if I wake up during the night. Even if I try to focus on something like the ticking of the clock on my wall, or on my body I always fall asleep fast  When I go home from school I sometimes sleep on the bus and they almost always have the radio on and then I usually listen to it somewhat while trying to fall asleep.

And quite often I seem to get “popping” sounds and then I know that I’m almost asleep. I think I’ve even had some strange dreams about what they where talking about on the radio, but that was before I found out about lucid dreaming  And the dreams are usually very short since the busride is only 40 minutes and it takes about 20 minutes to fall asleep. And I have to be a bit aware so I won’t sleep too long because I’m the first person to get off the bus so if I fall asleep I might have to walk home

winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=104265

An nice alarm clock plugin to winamp :content:
And it seems to be completely free too
And there’s lots of nice functions there too, like repeat and “fade in”

I tried it last night :content: I had the interview start playing at 5 am and the volume was 0 at first and after 5 minutes it had increased to 35. I woke up after about 7 minutes after it had started playing, but the awakening was very gentle atleast :content: I thought I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep so I got up and turned it off. But I will try this again tonight with a lower volume
