I’ve had two lucid dreams so far both have been a VILD. In both dreams when i became lucid, the environment ‘swallowed’ me. The environment distorted and the ground sort of disappeared. I could move my body but i couldnt actually GO anywhere. Its really annoying. In my first lucid dream, the environment randomally became solid (still distorted but solid) for no apparent reason but I lost lucidness shortly after due to a false awakening and didnt really do anything exciting but jump off a distorted black ledge…In my second lucid dream I never lost lucidness but i wasnt lucid very long because I woke up shortly afterwards.
Anyone have similar problems? Anyone have a solution/suggestion?
…I’ve already tried to ‘wish’ and ‘believe’ the environment to be solid in my second lucid dream.
It can be common at first for lucid dreams to be shorter. As time goes on and you get used to the feeling of getting lucid, you’ll get stronger, so don’t get discouraged .
I know exactly what you mean about “wishing” and “believing” environments into place. I know some of the anit-doubt fanatics will blast me for this, but it is significantly more difficult that it sounds. There are a few other techs I might recommend while you’re still starting out.
One of the most effective things for me has been to shout out “increase lucidity.” This has always helped to stabilize my environment; something about yelling instead of just thinking seems to make a big difference. You could also try rolling around on the ground to get a feeling of where everything is.
Again, this is only as hard as you make it out to be. It is true that if you doubt you can stabilize the dream it will make things very difficult. But nothing, and I mean nothing will stop you from eventually reaching your goal except for giving up. Best of luck, and sweet dreams
