Problems Getting to Sleep/ Dream Dissapointments

Moved from the “Gathering” to the “Stuff Dreams are made of” forum, cause it asks for sleep related stories.

Do you ever have those nights, where some unforeseen force keeps you from going to sleep. What happened?

Tonight, as I was just about to go to sleep, I hear this noise…it sounded like something hitting into something lightly. I look up at my tv (i keep my tv on when i sleep). And in the light of the tv, i see a big flying at it, hitting into it, flying back. So I turn on the lights, and soon enough, the bug flew right towards the lights. I went out of my room, and turned on the hallway lights, hoping to lure out the bug. It didn’t work, so I went back into my room, and I saw it between the wall and ceiling. I take a book off my bookshelf, and try to hit it, it falls down, behind heavy furniture. I barely get to move it, and I see it on the wall/floor again. I try to smack it, and it just goes back into hiding. So now I sit here, wondering if I will ever be able to sleep. lol

Has anything like this happened to you? Is something happening to you now? How did you solve it?

Deep relaxation and maybe breathing exercises?

Yes this happens to me all the time because my room is too hot so I have the window open 24/7. I’m sure my room is on a flightpath!!

I have the same problem, but I’d rather face the heat than amplify the noise and have a freaky feeling that somebody is going to break in. (I have slight Agoraphobia; I feel more secure when I’m alone when all doors and windows are shut tight. When there is at least one other person in the room, it doesn’t bother me as much.)

The only recurring problem that keeps me from going to sleep is common anxiety. When I know that I have something planned the next day that I’d rather not go through, or if I feel like a friend is angry at me, I just stay awake. I relieve it by using my method of battling anxiety.

Yeah, i hate thinking someone is going to break in. Sometimes I hear stuff outside, and I automatically believe that someone is breaking in.

Has anyone had those times when they were looking foward to dreaming or whatever, and you end up having a really bad night. You toss around a lot, and then you don’t recall any of you dreams that night. That happened to me, lol.

Yes, absolutely and maybe it´s just this looking forward to dreaming that keeps us from sleeping, don´t you think?
Other than that I guess tossing around in my bed not being able to sleep might have to do with the moon, too. Most of the times I have a hard time getting to sleep when it´s a new moon :eh:

I found that this happens to me nightly. I 've really only had one LD. I’m pretty sure it’s normal. Just think of it this way:

you go to sleep every night (mostly) and by the time you’re 32 you will have slept for approx. 12,000 nights. You WILL go lucid somewhere in that time! The odds are most truly on your side! I guess what i’m saying is that you have all the time in the world.
